I can really recommend Hooked. The Seafood was exquisitely cooked, the owner was very attentive, and he had clearly worked on the menu with the chef as he was able to make good recommendations. The homemade hazelnut praline ice cream was amazing and the fish was cooked to perfection. You will feel very full and satisfied afterwards.

My wife and I recently spent a weekend here and cannot begin to describe how wonderful Gilpin Lodge really is! We have stayed in some great hotels elsewhere but the attention to detail and level of service here is second to none and also, unlike many top hotels this beautiful family owned and run venue also manages to create a very homely and welcoming atmosphere. It is a credit to them. The food, including the breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner is also as good as it gets. We will certainly return as soon and as often as possible and would recommend anyone to experience this wonderful place.

Don't waste your money........... The worst fish and chips that I have ever tasted.

Went to this restaurant yesterday and it was not very family friendly. Staff were not very pleasant and food was frozen and overcooked. Place itself was nice enough but the staff and food let it down

Absolutely dreadful. Went in on a Sunday evening about ten past six. Menu for the evening. menu for the evening was served till six thirty. We you would have thought there was a war on they way we were looked at. We felt so uncomfortable. Staff were very rude. Polish waitress even ruder, saving grace was the young waiter who was polite but the remainder of the staff were very rude. I tool children in and all I could hear was the waitress and chef arguing about our order, he was complaining there was not enough food to do our order, f'ing and blinding from the kitchen in full view of the seats we were at. She then came out and no apologies just said there were no chicken nuggets and would sausage do. Absolutely no apologies, very rude. Everything seemed too much trouble. We asked for vinegar and she said "Well I will have to go upstairs for that" which begs the question why none downstairs and also why tell us. It should have been brought with the meal. I would rather go without than eat here again. Never again. Rude staff mediocre meal and grubby surroundings, we sat downstairs. Overall appalling.

The food is very nice and the building is beautiful. Unfortunately the staff and management let it down - they are rude and argumentative. Is such a pity as the food is very tasty - not the cheapest - but locally grown and reared.

Brilliant food, Breakfasts as you would cook them yourself !! no grease in sight. Delicious. !!! Lovely outside dining area. Fantastic !!

'All our food is home made' etc etc - see the menu. NO it isn't - the soup was poor and on questioning we discovered that it was out of a packet (Knorr) The Cheese Toastie was hardly toasted, just warm and the cheese not at all melted. A warm cheese sandwich was a more accurate description. Sorry but one to avoid

My sister and I had food at this place. We waited an hour and a half for our food to arrive. The whole entire time no one came to our table to explain why it was taking so long. We only had one drink because no one came to our table. Then we asked to take our food away they put everything in two containers when we had ordered at least 4 dishes. My prawns were cooked too much they tasted like rubber. Seriously do not waste your money there is so much better restaurants in windermere. If i save one person from this place I'll be happy!!!!!!

Would not eat at this restaurant again. Garlic Mushroom starter were the worst I've sampled, and the garlic bread with cheese was burnt.

Gem of a cafe in Bowness - very fresh, well cooked grilled (so no grease or oil at all) breakfast. We ate there every morning during our week's stay in Bowness - delicious food and spotlessly clean cafe.

We went to this restaurant may bank holiday weekend. Surroundings were very nice & the house red but unfortunately I couldn't say the same about the food. I had steak rossini , the actually steak was nice, but wasn't cooked as I requested. the sauce was awful sweet sherry sauce & really wasn't very nice. My fiance ordered halibut , was nicely cooked but no sauce with it .With the main courses we got a small bowl of roasted peppers & aubergines & a few under done roasted potato's. We were very disappointed with the meal as it was for a special birthday . Wouldn't recommend .this restaurant.

Absolutely amazing!! Highly recommend, I had the freshest, most delicious, high standard food here that I have ever eaten. Beautiful free canapes and bread were also brought to our table with most attentive staff. 4 of us dined at Francine's and none of us were disappointed. Restaurant and toilets were also very clean and inviting. Well done!! We will return and will be telling our friends.

Very strange service here! I ordered my chicken jalfrezi with rice and a sparkling water. "what else would you like sir?" nothing i replied. "you need to order something else sir" he said 3 times! no i kept saying. he then said "minimum order £10". Firstly i have never heard of this ever when eating in a restaurant. Secondly the order value came to £14.45?? Food was OK.

Lovely evening at Francines. We visited on the back of a recommendation and all of the food was fantastic. The service and atmosphere were great. Lovely touch to bring some canapes to start with and the panacotta was the best I've tasted outside Italy! Even the house wine was very good. Not cheap but very much worth it!

Superb, freshly prepared food. I had the full English ( not greasy at all ) and my wife had the home made soup. The children had ham and cheese toasties with lattice fries. Excellent value, good, clean premises. Will go again.
