Excellent food, great service from all the staff,

This week our walking group of 30 members had our Christmas Lunch at The Cookhouse, Mackets Lane. From the initial booking with Vicky right through to the end of the meal, every thing was ideal. Nothing was too much trouble . We would not heistate to make a group booking at this venue again

Three of us had a Christmas buffet, quick service and reasonably priced

We overall had a great night, staff were brilliant, but my meal was a bit disappointing . My gammon was overcooked and my egg was served a bit smashed up and only a few chips. But for the price was reasonable , but could have been presented better. The pub itself is very lively and has a great atmosphere. The staff are warm and sociable and helpful. Overall, I would recommend this pub as a good night out.

I booked The cookhouse Mackets Lane on 7th December for a party of 22 people I had given our order for what we wanted to eat few days in advance.When we arrived our food was served on time The food was really nice The service was excellent The staff were friendly and helpful The manager Vicky was really nice and communication between the both of us prior to our booking was excellent .We had a lovely night and will definitely book again

Booked a table for 2 yesterday evening. Had a nice comfortable booth. Menu offers a really good choice but we opted for a banquet. Chicken and Sweetcorn soup was lovely perfectly seasoned and chicken was tasty. Crispy duck and pancakes- very tasty and perfect amount for two people. We ordered sweet and sour pork and chicken foo yung. Both were delicious. The rice was a generous portion, but again more than enough for two people. We finished off with an ice cream and coffee and banana fritters (£2 extra) and an Irish coffee which I was very impressed and perfect cream topping (not aerosol cream). All in all a very plentiful and delicious meal and polite and attentive staff. Thankyou.

Visited the cookhouse on Saturday 09/11/19. Booked a table for myself and 3 friends. We had pre booked tickets for the boom box bingo so thought we’d have food first. We asked if we could be moved from a window seat as it was quite drafty. Staff were more than happy to accommodate us and even set us up on our table we had reserved for the bingo. Great night had by all. Lovely food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Will definitely be coming back for the boom box bingo night, we had a great night!

Been here many times never been disappointed Took friends with us on Saturday they absolutely loved it. Not much else to say apart from Great food. Great service. Great value

Very nice meal good value and really good staff.

We visited for the second time and the food was just as nice. A perfect Sunday roast again, nice and relaxing atmosphere and again the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Food and service was fabulous. We had the i banquet for four and it was delicious. Staff friendly polite and helpful. Restaurant clean and toilet facilities clean and fresh. Drinks good for price and speedy service. Excellent value for money x

Booked a table for 20 people on a Saturday for my little girls birthday and on the day it turned out to be super sunny and most of children wanted to play outside on the play area, the staff were super helpful and let us swap our big table from inside to sitting outside. This was perfect as we could watch the children play and not have to run in and out. Everybody's food was super nice, the chicken pasta alfredo was had by at least 3 and all loved it. Thanks so much to all the staff they were all great. I have visited here numerous times before but only with a few of us but considering the amount of people we had they were super helpful. cheers x

Fantastic food. Excellent service even though they were very busy

Have visited the Cookhouse a number of times since it opened and have not had any problems before. Went for lunch on Sunday 16/09/19 with my wife, two grandchildren, and a friend. My friend ordered gammon which was (in his words 'very chewy') On the positive side the staff apologised and exchanged it for steak which he enjoyed. Secondly we have never had problems with the children's meals before but somehow the chef now seems to think he is in a chippy as the chips came with a heavy dose of salt (or seasoning as the helpful waitress informed us) so much that my youngest did not wish to eat his. We were informed that we could ask for the seasoning to be omitted but why cover the chips in salt in the first place especially on a child's meal? Apart from excessive salt being unhealthy there are condiments on the table for those who wish to season their chips. My grandchildren also had problems in the play area as one older child took to throwing stones - a member of staff did go and speak to him but his behaviour and lack of parental supervision spoilt the visit for them also. Again, on the positive side, the staff were sympathetic and offered to give them some free ice cream. Now having to give some thought as to whether it will be worth visiting again.

We visited Saturday 7/9/19 a party of 10 people for a work colleagues 60th birthday. I had paid a £25 deposit to reserve a table as we had all chosen to eat here. I was very disappointed with my meal of Pasta Penne with additional chicken The 4 cheese sauce it was advertised as was like runny milk and tasteless lots of Button mushrooms added approximately 4 small slices of chicken and pasta that looked like it was added to the plate Ate 2 mouthfuls of this bitterly disappointing and tasteless!! Worst pasta meal ever! 3 of our party chose black pudding starters said tough as anything unable to cut into this Not fresh whatsoever possibly reheated? Overall the fish and chips looked the best and 3 people really enjoyed theirs Thank goodness.

A fantastic choice of excellent dishes, friendly staff and great service make this our number one choice for a great family meal out.
