31 Castlegate Restaurant – YorkWe found this gem of a place a number of years ago. We visit Maxis whenever we are in the area and often plan a special trip just to enjoy a Maxis evening. We have never been disappointed, the food, staff are excellent, warm and welcoming. We were hesitant to visit (from Scotland) because of the current COVID situation, on arrival hand sanitiser was readily available, temperature checks, and details taken for trace and testing purposes. The staff very visibly in their cleaning. Tables we well spaced. Nothing seem to much trouble and we had a fabulous meal in relaxing environment. Well done Maxis !
Maxis – YorkWhat can I say. Punctual well rehearsed service with covid-19 safety always at the fore. Spaced dining area with pipe worn by staff. The ambiance was wonderful, the food well presented tasty and gorgeous. We had the king prawn risotto to start which was so tasty. Then I had one of the tastier Rib eye steak I've ever had. My partner had the trio of Venison again superb. I can highly recommend a visit or more to this hidden delight.

Food well presented and very tasty, both the lamb and duck were delicious. Interesting, historic building was a lovely setting to enjoy a wonderful meal. Would definitely recommend.
