Once seen, the food tasted, never to be forgotten, When ever I am near the location of the Cod & Lobster I just gravitate towards it's welcoming doors...the Boullibasse is to die for and my friends face was a treat to behold when she first encountered the ''Club Sandwich.!!the Jazz nights are great...the food superb...Well done to all the Chefs, restaurant staff and management team you make dinning out a pleasure...

I would not recommend this restaurant. I have given it three goes now, as it is a convenient meeting place with friends. The service is terrible, you are rushed in and rushed out, which is odd considering the times that we have visited there were only a couple of other tables occupied. The food arrives quickly.. not sure whether this is good or not.. but probably the latter as its low quality, poor tasting food, which you'll find is very much over priced. I had a couple of glasses of wine, and then a glass of tap water.. which 4 of us all thought tasted like it was tinged with kitchen cleaner detergent! If you are looking for a really great Thai restaurant and don't mind travelling. The best Thai that I have found in Yorkshire has to be in the small market town of Beverely, called Muang-Thai. Its genuine fresh Thai food at its best, its very small with only 60 covers or so to enable the chef to literally cook your meal to order. Its mouthwatering. I was sadly disappointed at Sangthai, especially having read so many good reviews in the past. Skip the disappointed and give it a miss.

We also stayed in their accommodation as well as eating in the restaurant. The whole experience was fantastic, made very welcome, excellent atmosphere and the food was just gorgeous. Not that expensive either and we will certainly be heading back there. Impressive and could not fault any part of it. Even the breakfast was outstanding!!!

I visited nineteen 16th April 2009 celebrating my 40th!I wanted somewhere different and special. I got exactly that, I highly recommend Nineteen, the food was superb and the service second to none, We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was a problem i had the sought after 'table 9' which was great also!thankyou nineteen for the great meal i have never shut up about the ham, pineapple& egg starter!!!!

Oversized tasteless nan breads.I had the tandoori chicken tikka.Chicken was white all the way through and not your usual deep red colour penetrating the meat.There was just a hot tasting glaze on it.Veg curry was a runny over spiced liquid.It appears to be "uncool"to complain about this restaurant but it is all show and no taste.Extremely disappointing.

Excellent place that you must visit. We have eaten at this restaurant twice now, Jan 08 and Mar 09 on each of our last two visits to York and thoroughly enjoyed it each time. The menu is interesting, original and delicious, the food is reasonably priced and the service is second to none. The atmosphere is intimate and friendly and due to the lateness of our booking we had to eat early (6.00pm) to be able to get a table, but were compensated with a choice of a complimentary bottle of red or white wine. Given the place is nearly 3 hours away from our home address we can not visit as often as we would like, otherwise I would be there every week, but I have to say it is one of the reasons we choose to visit York when we can get away.

Me and my boyfriend go every month now because we know we can have a nice night out with good service and delicious food and we cant bring ourselves to try anything else. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

the ujala tandoori in whitley bay in ordered a meal and it arrived within 30 mins so i thought the service was fantastic and the food was fabulous mouth watering i cant fault it it was fantastic all around.

Went to saffron at york on valentines day booked a table got there the staff were extremely friendly, very polite and always there to help, had poppadoms while ordering our food, food came quickly no waiting about. food was lovely best Indian me and my boyfriend have ever had. Great restaurant. great pricing would be honored to return there again. great night out, would recommend anyone who loves real Indian food to go to saffron. big thanks to all staff at saffron for making it a pleasurable night.

After reading an article about this place I thought I'd swing by for a cup of tea and a slice of cake. And what an excellent experience it was. The patisserie was a delight. I believe the fella who makes them came from a Michelin-starred establishment and it certainly shows... they were works of art and thoroughly delicious. The chocolates, also, were uniformly excellent. A special mention, too, for the manager, Alison, who was particularly helpful and whose passion for, and knowledge of, all things tea related really shone through. She pointed us towards the Oolong, a blend I'd never tried before; it was delightful. I'm constantly baffled why people rave about Betty's in this part of the world. For me, The Black Swan Tearoom was of a much higher standard and represented far better value. I hope they go from strength to strength.

Only a month to go! I can't wait for the new Oscars to open! How will I choose between the Biltmore and Oscars when they are next door to each other! Had a peep through the new doors when the builders were working yesterday and it seemed huge. But some how, it seemed just like a bigger better brighter Oscars! Hope only the location changes so that I can continue enjoying excellent food in a relaxed setting served by superb staff!

its a very sophisticated warm and friendly environment, I thought that the food there was brilliant with the flavours pondering around my mouth. The staff there are easy to approach and friendly always there if you need them.

A really good little eatery. Had a really tasty lunch there today comprising of five of the main course dishes, served in little boats. All delicious food. The staff were friendly but a little slow. Ask to sit in the Moroccan Room upstairs

I had the most fantastic experience there a couple of nights ago. The seafood platter and the manner in which it was served was utterly fantastic. It's quite expensive but that's York. I get the posters point about the crab but crab does take a long time to pick through. The oysters were as fresh as it gets and the lobster pretty, fresh, freshly cooked and tasty. Skip the crayfish.

Have not eaten here since the new regime took over, but having looked at the sample wine list online, I will not be! Anyone who charges £52.50 for Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc must be having a laugh. I reckon that is probably a 300% mark-up. Scandalous!

Went to Saffron Desi for the first time during a recent visit to Leeds; was pleased to find somewhere to get a curry that was close to The Grand Theatre where we were going that evening. Outstanding service, great choice on menu (including for vegetarians), fantastic food and very reasonable price...we couldn't believe our luck. Highly recommend.

Delicious food and nice decor inside. It was a little pricey but the food was worth it I thought.

We visited this restaurant on Friday night it was healthily busy. The waiter took our coats as soon as we arrived and showed us to our table. The decor was trendy with a retro feel and the ambiance was relaxing. The sea food gumbo was outstanding with a mix of Cray fish, cod, monk fish, shrimp, muscles and salmon. My girl friend had Tomato and basil soup which she enjoyed although her main of long horn sirloin was more medium when she asked for it medium well but I enjoyed the taste! I was very disappointed with my main of Crab it was cold there is no way they pulled it out of there tank and got it that cold in the amount of time it got to our table so saying there fresh is a bit of a con. All in all the service was brilliant the food was of a good standard however the disappointment of the night was the price was a little high for the steak and the crab was not fresh as stated 7/10
