This is a beautifully restored and refurbished Georgian building housing a 'restaurant with rooms' that has two AA rosettes. Home to some extremely competent cooking, the menus are devised as a showcase for local, seasonal produce, much of which is grown for them within a small radius. Everything is made on the premises -- stocks, soups, breads, desserts and the meats fully traceable, the fish line-caught and hand-dived, and the game season is well represented. The lunch, dinner and party menus provide beautifully presented dishes and vegetarians are not glossed over as their is a superb separate menu. The three available rooms have recently been refurbished, along with the sitting room, which is available for the guests’ use. Greens is the perfect neighbourhood place to go for top quality food and drink -- whether you want to kick back on a Sunday for brunch and the papers, have a long midweek lunch or an intimate evening meal. It’s run by two chef brothers, Simon and Andrew Green, who between them have an awesome background in some of the most creative kitchens in the UK, a ‘who’s who’ that includes Alistair Little, Chez Bruce and the River Cafe in London and in Bristol at The Glassboat and Riverstation. Andrew’s wife Louise manages and looks after front-of-house and she has worked at the River Cafe and also was at the forefront of Robinson Restaurants in London. Affordable and relaxed, there’s no starch here at Greens, just great cooking. With a nose to tail ethos, the kitchens produce everything from scratch including stocks and breads. Tuesday to Friday lunch offers a choice of a la carte or a set menu of two courses for £10 with Saturday and Sunday offering brunch, light lunch or three course traditional roasts. The a la carte evening menu features modern European dishes and comes in at £21.50 (2 courses) and £27.50 (3). One 30 is now established as a foodie venue, being the only bar in Bristol to be recognised in The Good Food Guide. Owned by Chris Wicks of Bell’s Diner, the food here is notably good, the menu consists of innovative tapas as well as the more traditional tapas with dishes such as morcilla risotto with deep fried crispy sage, deep fried goats cheese and pardon peppers.
