The Pheasant Inn

Wells Road, Worth, Wells, BA5 1LQ - 0871 2076051

The Pheasant Inn at Worth is a traditional village pub set in the Mendip Hills close to both Glastonbury and the cathedral city of Wells. Originally a farmhouse dating back to the 16th century, it retains many characterful features including old beams, a flagstone bar and two open log fires. Paintings from local artists adorn the walls. The food is of a high standard, locally sourced where possible, and under the direction of a chef who has previously worked at Hampton Court Palace and AA rosetted kitchens in the southwest. The Classic Somerset Food menu features dishes such as 'Somerset style' mussels cooked with local scrumpy cider, cream, leeks and crusty malted bread and Homemade 'Quantock' venison stew enriched with red wine and port, served with buttered new potatoes, braised red cabbage and baby carrots. Pheasant, apricot and sage and Pork, honey and cider sausages are made exclusively for the Pheasant and served with chive and apple mash potato, caramelised onion and Somerset cider brandy gravy. Food is served at lunch and dinner, seven days a week. Awards | Good Food Guide 2
