I decided to have my daughters surprise party at akram's the manager and all the waiters made it a truly memorable meal the food was beautifully presented and made every one feel at easy as many family members had not been before but will definitely be going again so much so i am going to organise my works Christmas party there.

I have been going to the Balti Society for many years now with family, friends and work colleagues. The atmosphere is so relaxing, you are never felt rushed to finish your food. You are made to feel very welcome. The food is excellent. They also cater for larger groups as well, if booked in advance. I have enjoyed many a night at the Balti Society and what makes it more special is that you can take your own drink!! Excellent choice of indian restaurant.

Been to all the 'buffet' style places in the B'ham area and this one beats them into submission every time. Not the cheapest but comes highly recommended. Been over a dozen times since it opened and pleased to see it has been refurbished. Car parking can be a slight pain at busiest of times. 9.5 out of 10

This is a fantastic chippie that seems to get better and better everytime I visit it. The simple menu offers exactly what you want from a good old fashioned fish and chip shop, either to take away or to eat in the restaurant and the new owners, the very friendly Carrelli family have definitely had the Bedders family trade secrets passed down to them and (dare I say it) made the fish chips even more yummy! Make sure you make a visit soon!

We have used the Diwan since not long after it first opened back in the 90's, others have been tried and tested but quite honestly nothing beats the Diwan for quality, consistency and value for money. The staff are great as well. In our opinion the Diwan is without doubt the best balti house in Birmingham. Long may it continue.

What a disappointment. After reading the reviews I decided to take my girlfriend there for her birthday. When I walked in I felt like a had walked back into the 1970's with the most hideous decor and complete lack of any ambience. For starters my girlfriend had prawns in garlic butter and I had chilli meatballs. The garlic butter sauce was so strong and greasy that it made your stomach turn. The meatballs were tough and I thought I would have some bread to help it go down. The bread had obviously been cut and left out all evening as it was so dry and tough. That was enough for us. We didn't wait around for the main course. After telling the owner of our disappointment she was most put out and said this had never happened before. With the standard of food I find that difficult to believe. After being charged for just the drinks we ran across the road to the Boat for some good solid pub grub.

Always an impressive curry and tremendous service - I've been coming to this restaurant for 10 years and whilst the decor has changed considerably in the time, the food remains as admirable as the first night I went. The owner still checks on every table to ensure satisfaction whilst his son oversees the restaurant with admirable efficiency. It's unlicensed, but that's not really an issue as the nearby pub sells take-outs should you forget to bring your own. I can't really recommend a specific dish - they are all good, the excellent naans are freshly made and the portions are large. It is one of the oldest restaurants on the Pershore road and is absolutely the best out of all them I have tried all most all the restaurants on Pershore Road with them bragging about there experience but I can personally assure the Watan is the originated experience of Balti’s. marvelous work boys keep up the good work an see you soon.

Have been to this place on several occasions, and have yet to not leave completely stuffed. Glorious food, and, while there isn't that much seating, if you come slightly before prime time, you will get a seat and quick service. Would recommend to anybody.

food to die for!!! Have eaten here twice and would definitely return. The lunchtime menu is great value for money and the portions are pretty decent so it is easy to eat too much! Great venue for an evening meal as well. great service, great decor, definitely worth a visit

We checked this out as they had just won the British Curry Award and we weren't disappointed. We were spoilt for choice, the meat dishes and kebabs were excellent.

I have been going to Jyoti's for years and years. The food is always great. It may not be the smartest restaurant in the city but the owners are friendly and the food is really good, it beats any of the flash city centre restaurants any day. Mmmmmm Jyoti

Out of lots of restaurants to choose from in the area this is one of the better ones, the food is exceptional, an its lovely to see the same faces serving you even when you drop by after 6 months. Its a very family orientated place; my kids love the Tikka Masala. Recommended by: Dave Foodie - 22/10/2007

"My partner and I decided to try out Itihaas recently, and I must warn anyone reading this to seriously consider what I am about to tell you. Seemed pleasant enough, until 5 minutes into eating our meal, my partner bit into a piece of GLASS which was disguised amongst the rice. It wasn't just a tiny piece either, it was well over half a centimetre long, and pointed. Luckily he caught it just before swallowing. So, we called over the waiter, and as you can imagine, he was genuinely concerned. The manager came over and apologised, then handed us a card to get a free meal next time. Not wishing to make a fuss, we said it was ok, accidents do happen. The full plates were taken away (obviously, we could eat no more) as we finished off our drinks. Then, as we were leaving, one of the waiters stopped us and said we must pay!!!!!! We were stunned!!!! Pay for a meal with glass in it?!!!! Were they having a laugh??? No, they were deadly serious. The manager came over and explained that the card was for a free meal next time!! Next time??? "There won't be a next time" we told him. Needless to say, we refused to pay. Much to the annoyance of the manager. The funny thing is, if they had just given us the glass meal for free, we may well have gone back again, and actually PAID but the treatment we received, I wouldn't go back if somebody PAID ME! Steer well clear! Accidents can happen but such poor customer service is inexcusable."

Sumptuous sauces, tantalising Nans and succulent meats combine to offer an exciting and euphoric eating experience, one of the best in south Birmingham. HOWEVER, be aware, the place's usual tranquility gets usurped after 11pm when pi***d up Mike Skinner wannabes dripping in fake gold and sometimes up to two mobile phones hanging form branded B.F.C. lanyards attired in lacoste, nike and addidas shimmer as they fall trough the door with their plastic bags full of Carling or Stella Artios or "wife beater" as it is locally known. Except in summer when checked shirts are substituted for sleeveless t-shirts to display their gallery of tattooed swallows and odes to dead relatives and a consensus of their offspring, should they forget to claim maintenance When this happens the ambiance is replaced by crackling mobile phones placed on the tables unclipped from the lanyards whilst blasting out some repetitive song in which the only the words audible are n****r and shank. Although the quality of food is just as good and the staff endeavour to remain as amiable as they were an hour before. Braving the tirades of NF chants about P*** taking their jobs, food fights and the odd outbreak of a fight, the waiters unfazed are as attentive as ever almost protective especially when you accidentally stir one of the clientele's anger by ignoring an insulting comment aimed at your dinner guest.
