Celebrated my 60th birthday on Friday 4th January 2019 with 28 of my family and friends. Wanted it to be a good evening and wasn't disappointed. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone enjoyed their meals from the items on the menu to the carvery. The table was booked for 8pm and the carvery is normally closed at 8.30.i was a bit concerned but spoke to a member of staff a few days before and they closed the carvery before we got there and then reopened it for us when we arrived. Fantastic! The only downside (and this is not a criticism but a pointer for future reference) is that because it was a big party I had to take a piece of paper and ask everyone what they wanted before taking it up to the bar which of course delayed the meals. It would be better if when catering for larger parties a member of staff could actually take the orders this would have saved me stressing out trying to scribble down the orders myself and then running up to the bar with it. But as I said a very enjoyable evening.well done! Since we ate at your restaurant I have read some very negative reviews. Have they been to the same restaurant?

But the atmosphere and the people running it I presume the owners of the business are very well being blunt very un-professional. as for cleanliness I would rate it at a 2 have been waiting for a Caribbean restaurant to open in fishponds for a long and I must say it`s disappointing. the attitude of the older woman that works there well she leave much to be desired. the language used in there mostly around the back I suppose where the food is being prepared is atrocious. on two separate occasion I have gone in there and there has been raised voices with foul language and heated arguments form around the back. makes you wonder what or who is preparing your food. I have noticed there is another Caribbean shop to be opened a few doors up I can`t wait for it to open. mind you it should be interesting seeing the two business in computation with each other. the is also MAMA P I think its called. its at the bottom of lodge causeway.fishponds. I really don`t think I would go back there again and I definitely wont be rec-amending it to any one.

Sholay Indian Kitchen – Bristol City CentreSaw an offer on Grapevine and booked for lunch for 8. The view from the circular dining room is fantastic, food excellent. The service was a little slow as it was surprising busy for a midweek lunch time, but we were not in a hurry and the noise levels lessened as the diners left. We will go again.

Failand Inn – CliftonWe booked for a party of 6 on a Wednesday evening, before actually coming to Wells. When we saw the restaurant we were alarmed that we had made a wrong decision. There was no dinner menu in the window and the lunch menus and general ambience suggested a lunch time café/bistro, rather than the good restaurant we had anticipated. How wrong we were. We received a friendly welcome and were given menus which clearly focused on good food, rather than too many choices. We all chose the set 5 course "taster" menu at £48. The best choice we made all week. Stunningly good and innovative food. The soy jelly was a real favourite with the cooks in our party. Each course was a delight and the portions were exactly right - enough to be enjoyed, not enough to ruin appetites for the following courses. A "must revisit" when we are next in Wells. Question, is the appearance of the restaurant designed to scare of casual "window shoppers"? We would certainly not have booked but for the on-line reviews.
Goodfellows at 7B – WellsVisited Easter Friday as you were recommended for two meals for ten pounds. On arriving found you don't do this on good Friday. While waiting for our food had a look around we were sat by the window and was very disappointed to see that the blinds were filthy as I was sat next to them, this didn't help me to enjoy my meal. The cutlery needed a good clean, the teapot my husband was given was dirty, and the entrance to the restaurant stank of smoke, all in all not a pleasant visit and won't be returning.

Rang them and they refused to deliver it as they were 'too busy' and said we can have a free one next time... we hardly ever eat chinese and we did not get that in writing either as the manager was too busy to listen or take details so we probably won't get it. Terrible service.
Jade Palace – KingswoodWhen ordering food the staff looked like they had enough of the place, no motivation to work or serve. Whilst at the bar glass fell from a photo frame and smashed all over the place, with kids running around with out shoes, the staff mad a very poor effort to clear the mess and didn't even ensure the glass was properly cleared even when they had got the sweeping brush. This place needs some form of discipline of the staff to ensure health and safety is met and proper customer service is met. I strongly advise people to take custom elsewhere until these issues are sorted and continue to provide the correct service.
