The Wheatsheaf Inn – KendalWe visited yesterday for Sunday lunch and were a table of 5x including a toddler. The pub has been refurbished to a high standard and was very clean and cosy - I didn't mark 5/5 as we were a table by the door and with it being so busy (which is good thing and positive to see) it kept getting left open and we were very cold. I know the pub well from over the years and will definitely request a table further in or by the fire as they have a lovely real fire which can be lit in the pub area. Service was a bit muddled and on the slow side but this was to be expected as they have been open literally a week. But when the food arrived it was sensational - the best roast I have had in this area in a long time! Also, all the staff and new owner were so friendly and welcoming and literally anything we asked for they would accomodate. We will all be returning regularly! I am so happy we have a local pub five minutes drive from Ulverston with such amazing quality food! Thanks to the chef and all the staff yesterday!
The Royal Oak – UlverstonThis is the second time this year that we have been to Grants and it doesn’t disappoint. The fillet steak was delicious cooked exactly as I like it and it was just as good as the first one. The roasted chicken and bacon was absolutely amazing excellent combination of flavours with a carrot purée sauce. Finished off with an amazing sticky toffee pudding that we had to share as I could not have eaten the whole portion by myself. Compliments to the chef, service was excellent, worth every penny, a beautiful dinner to finish off our anniversary. Thank you to all the staff at Grants
Grants Of Castlegate – Penrithwell, I booked a table a week ago for dinner for my friend's birthday. After arriving on Thursday this week we found a sign saying there was renovation. The day before I got a message about a reservation reminder heh. I called and asked what was going on, the lady said she called me several times with information about the renovation. Unfortunately I didn't get any phone call. Very sad because it's our favorite place and a big minus for them.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleDecided to try this place after seeing their facebook page and it never disappointed. The pub was clean and the owners were very welcoming. The food was amazing and well worth the money and was good to see pub food with a little bit of class. I will be back and will recommend the place.
The Royal Oak – UlverstonVisited for a pre-booked evening meal on a very busy night. Service was excellent from well trained staff who were friendly with terrific senses of humour. The food was excellent. We both went for chefs specials and we weren't disappointed
Pheasant Inn – KeswickFood nice, service good. Disappointing that the menu was not the same as the one outside the pub, we were looking forward to the stuffed chicken breast. Room we were sat in was very cold.

Harry’s Cafe Bar at Yew Tree Barn – Grange-over-SandsShe did return to another great Sunday lunch. The vegetarian option, Butternut/parsnip pie was delicious served with perfectly cooked veg. The lemon posset was a very refreshing follow up. Great service, the team looked after us exceedingly well. A real treat on a dark, misty, icy January day. We'll be back early February. Thank you!
