Well it was 3rd time lucky having tried to book twice before while in on visits to Keswick........and now I know why. The food was outstanding...locally sourced, fresh and beautifully presented with great attention to detail. All this is underpinned by the attentive and friendly service provided by staff from the moment you enquire about a booking until you reluctantly leave this hidden gem.
Cottage in the Wood – KeswickGreat family pub - well recommended. Good food and beer at reasonable prices. Sky Sports and lovely beer garden for the kids. Great place.
Crofters – Barrow-in-FurnessWhat a find! A real gem of a Cumbrian pub nestled in the fells by the Duddon Valley at Broughton Mills. A tiny pub in size but filled with character and many nooks and crannies. We were sat in the front by the fire. Service was good and pleasantly eccentric. Four cask ales and the Golden Fleece from Dent was a cracker. I had the tomato garlic soup which was fresh and made with full tomatoes. Followed by the fish and chips. My wife had pork and chorizo stew which was gorgeous. All our party enjoyed their sunday lunch in a beautiful part of the Lakes. Look forward to eating outside in the summer.

Aunty Vals Tea Rooms – WindermereAfter a walk and a drive discovering the beauty of the Duddon Valley Near Broughton in Furness, we drove past the Newfield Inn and decided to have lunch there. The Pub is a classic Cumbrian hostelry deep in the countryside and a real fell walker and cyclist haven. We had Cumberland sausage and the lasagne which were both excellent. Was particularly impressed with the lasagne, soft delicate and tasty mincemeat, unlike the usual chunky pub attempts and many italian restaurants to be fair. Would like to try again and have a few beers by the fire!

Manor Arms Hotel – Broughton-in-FurnessThe wife and I enjoyed a nice night time walk through the village and up the hill to the High Cross. It is in a great location with commanding views over the Duddon Valley and estuary. We were treated to a very warm welcome from the landlady. Had a fine local real ale by the huge roaring fire. Will be back to eat soon.

Great service and food and loads of space for us 17 adults and 2 children alongside all of the diners on this busy evening. Lovely, lovely staff made the evening and the icing on the cake was how they brought out mums birthday cake, music and all. Many, many thanks to all and may I add that this was my first visit and I cannot wait for my next. Annie

Briery – WorkingtonFirst visit last night to Lindale Inn and certainly won't be the last. Great welcome from John and Sue and standard of food was excellent. Fantastic value too and always appreciate being able to feed my kids off the main menu with smaller portions. Good selection of drinks including Moorhouses Blonde Witch - a personal favourite. Considering they only took over 4 days ago John and Sue did a fantastic job and we are looking forward to coming back at Easter.
Lindale Inn – Grange-over-SandsIt’s a number of years since I stayed here and on spec I booked a room for the wife and I between Xmas and New Year. If you’ve never been it’s essentially a privately owned pub and microbrewery in the middle of nowhere in the heights overlooking Lake Windermere between Ambleside and Hawkshead. The food was even better than I remember with my wife going so far as to declare the smoked haddock and Lancashire cheese soufflé as the best starter she had ever had. Good wine list too and of course decent beer as it’s brewed on-site.
Drunken Duck Inn – AmblesideStayed here for a couple of nights in November for the first time and was thoroughly impressed. The food was outstanding and I can honestly say the dessert I had one night – a chocolate and butternut squash tart with mango and passion fruit – was the best I have ever had. The staff are young and friendly and this is in no way the stuffy old country house hotel that you might expect.
