Excellent meal as ever. Service super friendly and efficient and food delicious!!!

Excellent! After the long enforced break we enjoyed three evenings at the Magpie where the range of fish offered and the quality of cooking and presentation was superb as ever. The friendly service complimented the meals - we never ate the same dish or fish twice!

First time at the Magpie. The menu was extensive but decided upon good old fish and chips: absolutely delicious.

The Crown was recommended to us, we booked and visited for a Sunday roast dinner. It didn’t disappoint. Couldn’t fault anything. We’ll certainly be coming back again.

Called for Sunday lunch with my mam and sister. The food was great and all the staff were friendly and very helpful. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again soon.

Very nice food and a good price. Extensive menue. Not a large place but was busy for eat in and very busy with takeaways which was a nuisance as it distracted the waitress and meant the outside door was always held open on a cold night. Fairly authentic Japanese food. Unfortunately the service was poor with waitresses obviously not trained. Given the menue on arrival but then ignored......nobody took a drinks order. Eventually caught one to take the drink order who wanted to take the food order at that time. Eventually got sorted.....food arrived promptly and was excellent and well cooked. During the meal service was poor with waitresses going back and forth but ignoring us. Empty bottles not cleared from the table. Nobody came to ask if we wanted another drink or anything else. Walked past our table several times looking the other way. Obviously not trained in service .

Our go to place when eating in Whitby and never disappoints! Such warm friendly staff who are happy to ensure your visit is the best it can be! As always hot tasty freshly cooked food! Thank you again Magpie for always meeting our expectations!

On this occasion it was just me and my daughter. We choose Sambuca because it is local and in our opinion it the best local of this type. It is good value, not cheap but you get good food for a reasonable price. It’s intimate and pleasant without being too formal or informal. It suits us and we always have a good meal and a good experience. I have enjoyed Sambuca as part of a larger party which was great for us but you are close to other diners but we enjoy it and would recommend it

I went with mg family, we had a lovely evening. The food was lovely and the gluten-free selection was also very good. Nice puddings .
