Brilliant food. Each dish was a taste sensation, loved it. Our Scottish waiter was brilliant as well, nothing was too much trouble.

Came as walk in party of 1 and was treated extremely well! Sat outside and hardly had to wait on anything! Was extremely suprised about the speed of the food coming out the kitchen. 10/10

Prebooked a table on the 7/7/21. We were met by a friendly member of staff and immediately shown to our table. We received excellent service throughout our meal as the staff were very efficent and attentive throughout. The menu is vast and caters for everyone. We recommend the crab bisque soup as a starter and the salmon and haddock gratin for main as both dishes were delicious and cooked to perfection. We would recommend prebooking a table before visiting as the restaurant is exceptionally busy everyday and it saves time waiting in the queue outside for a table ,especially if the weather is bad. We are sure you will not be disappointed! Enjoy!

Absolutely fantastic. Went 5 years ago and yesterday was like then. Amazing. Service was exempt. Food was simply to die for. Well worth it. Will be back again next time we are in Whitby.

We visited the Magpie Cafe after a friend’s recommendation on our first trip to Whitby. We had pre booked so arrived and were seated immediately. We had heard & read a lot of excellent reviews about the Magpie & they were absolutely correct. The fish & chips menu offers different size choices to suit your appetite & we were pleasantly surprised at how many other fish choices there were on the menu. We were served (from memory so I hope it’s right) by Elaine who was friendly, efficient & helpful. The Magpie handled the Covid restrictions really well, the food was delicious & even though they were very busy we were served quickly. The Magpie Cafe certainly is much more than just a fish & chip shop. Loved it.

We had a wonderful time at the Magpie. The service was exceptional, the lovely waitress who served us on Wednesday 7th July at lunchtime deserves a pay rise, she made our meal for us! What a gem. We had fish chips, mushy peas and the lush tartar sauce! The best we’ve ever had! We would definitely come back and branch out to there more extensive menu. All in all a fantastic experience! Thank you!! X

Very good food

Very friendly staff who worked incredibly hard - good home cooked pub food, just what we needed after a long day’s cycle.

Sambucas is one of the best Italians around. I’ve visited multiple times now and the food and service is always to a high standard. Great quality for a low price.

Ate here twice in 3 days as we enjoyed the food so much. whether it is a hotpot with a selection of fish or traditional fish and chips the food was delicious and the fried onion rings were the best I've eaten.

Sadly, I was disappointed with my fish and chip meal. The fish had skin on one side so this spoilt my experience, as the menu stated all fish is skinned and de-boned. Even the quality of the one slice of white bread let the restaurant down. Service was good and speedy, no complaints there.

Hello. I was very dissatisfied with the service yesterday. I booked the table to celebrate my mum's 50th birthday and was pretty much told to get it wrapped up by 18:00. When a table is booked it's booked. My pregnant sister and my mums pork was very undercooked. Literally raw. The seasonal vegetables was just frozen vegetables. Pay 2.50 for that isn't great. I used to enjoy the food but you've gone massively down hill. I was skeptical to even eat here as I was served a bug with my food when you was doing deliveries. The night was ruined. My little sister was crying and didn't get anything to eat and no apology. Very ashamed with the shit service.

Chose because we have mixed vegan and omni household. Not disappointed. From a very friendly welcome, attentive (to just right amount) staff, food all served at same time and exactly as described. Warmed plates. Nicely distanced tables too. So, particularly keen on dedicated vegan menu, but will return also for service.
