The Aegean Taverna – HullLove it. The new location is so much better! The place looks amazing and it's the same great food as before! Couldn't fault anything, can't wait to go back!
The Aegean Taverna – HullAbsolutely love the Agean and its new location on Newland Avenue. The owner and staff are so lovely, the food is wonderful and the restaurant has a really comfortable, welcoming feel. We took our family and three year old granddaughter and enjoyed the meze (which is the best way to eat greek food). Do not miss out on a great evening, we shall be back soon
The Aegean Taverna – HullLovely food great service
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyGreat place to eat in lively atmosphere. Food is plentiful and very tasty with the menu offering a large range. It does get busy and we were given an allotted time period which I personally didn’t like and we would have stayed longer to drink if we had been allowed.
The Aegean Taverna – HullMe and my husband ate here for the first time since last March. It was good to be back. As always the service and food were excellent.
Thai Sabai – HeadingleyWe went for our anniversary meal. The food was excellent, compliments to the chef, although there is a limited choice and it is pricey. The service was not bad but could be better for somewhere with this excellent standard of food quality. I feel the service let the chef down. Some staff didn't seem to know what was on the menu or what drinks they had. We observed other diners having to ask for things to be brought to the table eg spoons when a dessert was served. Another table had ordered lobster so the waiting staff removed cuttlery from their table to provide specific cutlery for eating lobster, after they had been seated for a while and touched and moved it, and returned to to the clean trays of buttery! The mussels were delivered without the soda bread, trying to attract the attention of staff was hard so in the end my husband gave up. We ordered drinks at the end of the meal to our table specifying one cube of ice in the whisky, it arrived with 3. It's a small detail but important and when prices are high - you expect top service. Covid secure measures observed: Tables were well spaced out allowing 1m+ so diners facing were 2m away but not all staff were wearing masks or displaying exceptions. Only 1 out of the 3 staff serving us wore a mask when coming to our table and was observed touching it constantly. Not many other staff were in masks throughout the restaurant. By law, staff and customers of venues that provide food and drink must wear a face covering indoors, unless they have an exemption. This includes for health, age or equality reasons. Source: gov website on covid restrictions for restaurants 13.06.2021) Staff did not prompt us on arrival to scan the code for test and trace. We only realised later and did it. This code could be on each table. Although they will have our details from our booking. We were served by multiple staff members. Many staff were going in and out of the kitchen.
Vine – MiddlesbroughDelicious meals for a party of 4. We enjoyed the fish, steak and lamb rump and the petit fours were a triumph. Friendly staff and sensible prices. All very efficient.
31 Castlegate Restaurant – YorkWe were on holiday and the Magpie was recommended by a friend. We were pleased that he did as we both enjoyed our cod, chips and mushy peas with tea, bread & butter. We booked our table in advance so were shown straight to our table and our server was very friendly and helpful. When booking I noted I had a prawn allergy, though didn't anticipate any issue as I wasn't going to order any! However the waitress knew of the allergy and had discussed with the chef to ensure there was no "cross contamination" of my meal. The cod was lovely and the chips were excellent
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyLovely meal last night great service and fantastic value for money been twice now and not disappointed x love it here
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyYou cannot visit Whitby without going to The Magpie Cafe. Food is always nice and menu extensive. Always check the specials board. The only hard thing is having enough room left for a dessert.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyWe have been aiming to visit the Magpie for more than 20 years . Finally we booked and came to Whitby 9/10 th of June. 2021.We had the house white wine, prawn cocktail/smoked salmon followed by 9oz cod and portion of chips and peas .. Really pleased with our choice of menu making it a special day out. The quality of cooking and produce was first class as was the service.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyMy wife and I along with 2 friends visited the Magpie on Monday 7th June I booked a table for 8.15pm, service was slow and didn't get our meal until after 9.00. The food was OK but nothing special. The biggest disappointment was when the bill came which was £79 I decided to leave a tip of £5 so took £40 from the other couple and I put £44 on the table before we left on leaving the restaurant we gestured to the staff that the payment was on the table but when my friends got outside they where chased by one of the staff saying we had not left enough money which was totally wrong some £20 had disappeared from the table to the till, I was disgusted in the accusation that we had not left enough money which I know we had. Please do not leave any cash for the bill on the table as you may be accused of trying to cheat them, someone had stolen the money. Why would I have left a tip if I wanted to short change them when they had my email and telephone details total scam, be careful.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyHad a great meal at the magpie , staff were excellent, very attentive and helpful.

Magpie Cafe – WhitbyHad a wonderful meal at Magpies. Luckily we had pre booked so we’re able to go straight in and we’re seated straight away. The food was wonderful and just nice to be in a restaurant environment again. Good value for money with the children’s meal selection. Good staff interactions. Magpies had put in good Covid measures. Tables separated by plastic columns, one way systems etc.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyBooked a table for two at 7:30 on the day we arrived in Long Preston as we were traveling from Somerset. Arrived 10 minutes late but were told it was not a problem as the pub was far from busy. Got our drinks and were shown to a table were we waited for 20 minutes and finally had to ask for a menu. After another 30 minutes we asked to order and were told that the chef had instructed the staff not to take any more orders until the previous orders had all been done. We paid for our drinks and walked out and cancelled a booking we had made for a later date. They are having staffing problems so if there are more than six tables already taken than you are in for a very long wait.
