Zorbas – Liverpool City CentreI went the restaurant last week, was disgusted with the look of the restaurant building, the main entrance was not rustic as people say it is just old, dirty and tatty and needs a more modern approach, would be nice to see into restaurant from outside, needs to be more inviting. The whole decor needs updating, needs bringing into the 21st century and not staying in the dirty past ages. I also noticed a lady who worked there constantly shouting at staff and fussing too much, I think she may have been the owner but the atmosphere she created was very negative, the staff are very good and don't need to be babysat. The food was average but service good, view is obviously the best thing about the place, something needs to be done to attract people to the place, cant see many young people attending which should be a key target for Sheldrakes.
Sheldrakes – HeswallWent to the Maharaja with two vegetarian friends, and shared the vegetarian banquet (even though I'm not a veggie). The food and service were fantastic, and I experienced dishes I had never tried before (eg Indian soup). The restaurant is very good value for money, and I would certainly go there again, when I visit Liverpool.

The food is brilliant and plenty of choice, it's not just pizza and pasta, although the Piccante Pizza is excellent if you like chilli and pizza. I love rare steak and they do a great fillet, you can't beat it. Loads of choice with starters too, my favourite being the Calamari. I sometimes just pop in for a beer or a coffee and am made equally welcome.
Quo Vadis – FormbyLoads of food at a bargain price. But disappointing service. Took my 5yr old and 15 month old son. Made the mistake of giving my son raisins before the meal. He doesn't understand the concept of waiting for food!. But was told off for bringing our own food. Next time I'll just let him scream. Except there won't be a next time. Thought with having highchairs they would be more accommodating for babies and toddlers!

Some colleagues and I went to San Carlo on Granby Street for lunch at the beginning of the week. We often meet out for lunch (on expenses of course) but sometimes feel slightly rushed. San Carlo recognised our need to relax a little, as this is the reason we leave the office in the first place. The space was very comfortable and the waitress moved at our pace. I am hoping they will offer repeat bookings each week, as the menu really provoked some hard work from the staff!
