Truly lovely restaurant - to look at ...but very disappointing service...the staff audibly moaned amongst themselves about the staff at the sister restaurant The Italian Club Fish while we had to call them over again as they hadn't brought one of our dishes. Won't be going back - food was nice but not good enough to chance experiencing such unprofessional service.

Brilliant pizzas and pasta. I've been going since I was at university 30 years ago, and will still drive over from the Wirral for a Super Meat.

I took very dear friends to the Cowshed for what I hoped would be a very special meal. What a disappointment !!!!!!!!!!!! We got ONE THIRD of what we had chosen and one main course meal was served with a piece of plastic bag probably originally containing the bought in veg. and 2 out of the 3 main courses were 'Sold Out". If my replacement veal was genuine veal then I certainly was NOT brought up on a farm. Of the starters the Deep Fried Brie was delicious but the other cheese starter tasted strongly of the OIL in which it had been fried. The 3 sweets were the only part f the meal that we could not find fault with. For this I paid a bill of £105.70 which at £35 per head was about 300% above what it was worth.

we went out for a meal that was recommended but we were very disappointed we had to wait too long and the food was cold & bland as the restaurant was quiet we expected the food to be of higher quality and the staff to be more attentive very disappointed and won't be going again

You are the man!!! The original and definitely the BEST in this area. I strayed but never again, I am dreaming of the scallops I had last time. Atmosphere, staff, food you've got it all. MAS MAS MAS BUENO.

I have visited Prego twice now - both times the staff have been really friendly, the starters have been lovely, but the main meals have been horrible. We have tried garlic bread, BBQ ribs and the squid, prawn and salmon starter. All of them are perfect - particularly the garlic bread. For the main we have tried pizza, which we all agreed had a horrible aftertaste of washing up liquid. Steak, which extremely over priced for what you get - a small piece of steak on a plate drowned in sauce, with some what seemed like boiled veg on the side. Chicken and bacon in mushroom sauce with rice - tasteless. Beef in a very, very rich sauce, which apparently had lime in it which I couldn't taste, with rice - too rich, sickly very quickly, not worth the money. A pint of coke is £2.80 or so, a garlic bread starter is £5, a rib starter is £6 and a seafood starter is £7. As for main meals - the steak is £15-£20, the beef and chicken were £10-£13, pizza is £5-£10 depending on toppings. Really very over priced for what you get, and the main meals really aren't worth bothering with. I decided to give it a second chance and won't be going back again.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in the North West for quality of food and value for money. Friendly staff and polished decor together with a very varied menu make for a great night out. We have been going to Zen for a number of years now and the standards never seem to slip.

My partner and I visited the Tai Pan for the first time yesterday. There were a lot of Chinese diners which led us to believe the food would be really nice but i was disappointed. The food was mediocre and the service was not friendly at all.

This must be the worst restaurant in Liverpool. I have eaten here on a couple of occasions over the years it has been open. I visited there on Monday 11th January 2010 as part of the celebrations for my sons 30th birthday. The service was the poorest I have experienced after an hour and 20 mins we still hadn't had our main course and left paying for the starters and drinks. We received no apology for the poor service. the restaurant had about 9 other customers in so far from busy. The two chefs were busy having a wonderful chat in the kitchen hardly seemed to notice us leave. The staff didnt even question our cancelled order. the lost somewhere in the region of £100 business on a monday night I am sad they can afford to..... I suppose I should just say as well that the place was disgustingly dirty with staff stepping over broken glass, reams of tissue papers and white spilt fluid on the floor behind and to the side of the bar. There are lots of wonderful restaurants in Liverpool give this one a miss...........

An authentic Greek meal is hard to come by but that is exactly what husband and wife team Gerryand Maria provide for their customers. Their restaurant is friendly, welcoming and well cared for: the portions are generous and the menu varied and appetising. The service is as good as the food and all all a really good place to spend a pleasant evening. Enjoy!

My wife and i along with two friends who were visiting us from Australia went to the pioneer wine bar in crosby on new years eve. What a let down! we had booked for the "gourmet? " buffet and had been advised by the person taking the booking that there would be hot food also. NO hot food was available. During the evening my wife went to the toilet and came back with excrement all over her pants as some lovely person who had previously been in there had what can only be described as having "diarohea" deposited this all over the toilet floor. Absolutely disgusting, my wife reported this to the staff who were very sympathetic. my wife had to leave to go and get changed. when our Australian friend paid a visit to the toilet ater nothing had been cleaned up and the cubicle was still in this disgusting state. This is a restaurant for heavens sake, how our people supposed to enjoy their food? Needless to say we left well before midnight very embarrassed for our friends on what should have been a celebratory night. I phoned the bar when we arrived home and was promised by a staff member that a manager would phone me back. nobody has had the courtesy to do this and we will not be going back again to the pioneer nor will we be recommending it to any our friends who live in the crosby area. Our friends have now returned home and god knows what they think of our decision to go to the pioneer. Yours disgusted and ashamed.

I went to the Tai Pan restaurant for a birthday. Service from staff was very good, we had hot and sour soup for starters which was very nice, but the prawn crackers where cold and did not taste very good, then it started to falter more as we had crispy duck with steamed pancakes that had no steam and a few were like cardboard and cold. We then moved onto the mains were the plates cold, the rice and containers were also cold (not much rice for each person had to pay for another portion), the main itself only slightly warm shame because would have been very nice hot and then last hot towels which were very hot (shame the main meals weren't ).

Ate at the Quarter on sat 02/01/10. In a party of 9 and we waited 30 minutes to be seated and then it was on a bench. Food unimaginative and bland. Garlic bread was just a pitta bread warmed up & served with very little garlic infused oil. The garlic mushrooms & garlic bread consisted of 3 small mushrooms on the above described pitta bread. Only redeeming factor was fresh pasta was used in their pasta dishes, let down by using preformed chicken in the dish along with cheap bacon and the fact that the portion size would only just about fill a small child. I also object to being told a surcharge of 10% will be added to the bill as our table had over 8 people on it. Tipping is discretionary as far as I am concerned. On the whole, would not recommend it at all to anyone visiting Liverpool. Did not bother complaining at the time because, could not be bothered quite frankly as I just wanted to leave

We had a small party reception at the Tai Pan Liverpool, and had been to the one in Manchester. It was a pleasant experience, but felt it was let down by the staff that weren't good at speak English. The food was nice but compared to most Chinese restaurant foods it tasted the same, no sparks. But majority of the part did enjoy the evening. I certainly was disgusted by the toilets! And shocked by the recent read in the Manchester Evening News that the hygiene didn't match the food and hygiene, cockroaches! Im sure they have cleaned up their act, because it has already put me off!
