Mr S

I ate there last night. They said that the two for one deal was not on in December so I had to pay the full price even though it's advertised on Sugarvine. Bit of a swizz. Also the food was not great - chips overcooked, fish over-battered ! I gather they have now been taken over by Holts so hopefully things will improve. It also smells of dogs.

After reading the reviews we thought we should try this restaurant while in Manchester doing the christmas markets. After wards wished we had chosen the Duck as the next table had, my sirloin steak ahd a definite 'liver' taste to it I am not really sure how that happend however the taste stayed with me all night!!!! The restaurant had a fab atmosphere, so we will give it another go when we come to town again.

I dined at the restaurant on the weekend and the food was fantastic. I had to wait 35 minutes for my starter, however the restaurant was packed and it was worth it.

An amazing restaurant and great food.

Love the concept of this restaurant. 2 choices, steak or Lobster. Both dishes are a very reasonable £15. I chose the lobster and had it grilled rather than steamed. Either dish comes wih fries and salad. I was particularly impressed that the waiters continually offered to replenish the fries and salad. Good selection of wines too. Service was professional as you would expect from a Radisson Edwardian. Even got to see Peter Andre in there!

The food was exquisite just like the other reviews said and as for customer service I couldn't fault it even if i tried. Even my son who is a fussy eater in the restaurant enjoyed their homemade Chicken Korma. I recommend people to try the mixture of chicken, peas, olives and pickles - YUMMY!!!!!

I have been going to Karims for years and loved it so decided to choose it as the venue for my wedding (28/10/2012), I was promised good service by a waiter called Hayam, and good food, they did not come good on that deal. I was told to come after 5pm, I came at 7 and nothing was ready, the floors were dirty, the heaters had been left on and I was sweltering, it took 25 minutes for someone to come up and turn the heating down by which time all my make up had melted and I was close to tears. Then I was told it would take an hour to bring the food out. So me and my guests who were starving waited patiently, it took another 2o minutes and countless requests before they came to switch the music on, my wedding felt like a funeral, The waiter offered free kheer and pilough rice to make up for it, which I didnt need because I had already ordered more than enough food. When the food finally came (I had ordered for 15 guests more than actually came) the guests were called up table by table, by the time it got to my table which had all the elders (most important guests)myself and my husband, there was only scraps of food left. The waiters said they would bring more food up, it took another 20 minutes by which time everyone had made do with the scraps and was thoroughly annoyed with the waiters. The pilough rice wasnt even given, Karims staff ruined my wedding, me, my family and guests are so dissapointed. It may have just been another booking for Karims, but for me that was my wedding, to make it worse no apology or discount was offered to make it up for it, no one cared!

Hey everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. My name's Shane and I'm one of the new owners at The Horseshoe. I can see their is a mixed bag of reviews on here but I just wanted to let you all know that we're taking the pub through a makeover. There's a new fresh-food menu, with country pub classics, homemade chips cooked in beef dripping! and a new 'Tri-Menu' that changes every month. Push chairs are most definitely allowed! and everyone is welcome. We are introducing a new waiter service so you can experience our great customer service and can only hope that those of you who visited the horseshoe previously will give us a try as Im confident you will be pretty impressed with us! Our new website is up and running and we re-open on the 3rd December. We look forward to seeing you all soon, and we wish you a Very Happy Christmas.

Popped into the Crown and Kettle Saturday afternoon 17/11/12 1pm the plan was to have a couple of beers with my sister and a meal before going to watch Man City playing Aston Villa I am a city fan. I had travelled over from Birmingham for the day where I now live and was waiting at the pub for my sister who was working at miles platting library. I walked in the pub asked for half of bitter and the bar man turned me down straight away after sizing me up and down first. He said that they did not allow trainers in the pub. I remonstrated with him and showed that I was infact wearing a pair of walking boots but he just sneared at me and said that they were the same as walking boots. I looked arounnd the pub and noticed it was quiet only a few people were in watching the Tottenham v Arsenal game but when looking at the foot wear of others I noticed some blokes were wearing what I would class as casual suede type trainers. I think the real reason if truth be known was that this bar man was a man united fan and obviously had some major predjudices against city fans. I had visited there a few weeks earlier before another city game and united were on the tv playing Liverpool nothing was said to me on that occasion yet I was wearing trainers then. It is such a shame that a nice morning planned with my sister who had visited the pub on other occasions and recommended it for a get together on saturday had been ruined by a jobs worth/ predjudiced idiot. I am a totally respectable 52 year old teacher who just happens to support city and wears a pair of boots to ward off the cold of the day. I wont be going there again and whilst I was in there I did not notice anything about footwear!!! Disillusioned blue!!

Third visit this month for my wife and I and it just gets better, super pork, ham.turkey and beef and the carving chef is generous with the portions, the veg selection was again first classin particular the cauliflower cheese roast potatoes have become nicer, the gravies and all the sauces were excellent the only trouble is once you get you share and thelarge yorkshire on the top theres no more room fore anything else The Rudyard carvery caters for and should please everyone

Miller & Carter – Stockport

Being a traditional, old school pub in the heart of Manchester's business quarter the Town Hall Tavern's menu reflects this and is comfortably conservative. Lancashire Hotpot rubs shoulders with Steak and Ale Pie and Cumberland Sausage. The emphasis is on home cooking, the pastry on our steak pie being crisp and thin, the accompanying chips fat and moreish. What let's it down is the little touches at pretension - vegetables served in ramekins, dusting a of cayenne pepper around the rims of plates etc. Oh yes, the word "jus" should NEVER appear on the menu of a British pub unless the owners have delusions of their establishment becoming a gastropub.Prices are very competitive, portion sizes are comfortable and service is casual yet efficient.

I recently took my family for a meal at The Rivington Pub & Grill, Blackrod and I must say that the whole family enjoyed it. The food was very good quality, the staff are pleasant and attentive. The overall experience was brilliant. We can recommend the Saddleback Chops. We all wish John every success. I get to see lots of restaurants and gastro pubs but this one is a real gem. We will be returning!
