The Red Lion – CoventryWe happened on this place by accident, booked for Sunday lunch and it didn’t disappoint. The food was excellent, the staff are very friendly. It’s dog friendly which is always a plus and because we had a pushchair we were seated appropriately to accommodate it. The only thing that let it down is the very outdated decor, but that did not detract from the excellent Sunday lunch.

The service and drinks (Butty Bach and Merlot) were very good as were the main courses (Monkfish Scampi special excellent, Beef Stifado very good). Our sorbet deserts were refreshing but spoilt slightly by being full of crunchy ice, probably due to being open too long within the freezer but the real disappointment was the coffee. This was either a very unusual blend or, more likely, very stale beans which was a real shame. Overall very good and we will return.

Vine Inn – StourbridgeWent here Friday 3rd Aug. What a fantastic place to visit. Only 10 minutes from home and I discovered this pub. The staff were young and fantastic a credit to their age group. As for the food from the first of 3 courses to the last lick on my spoon was beautiful and fresh and very reasonably prices, book soon people you will not be disappointed.
