The food was excellent, the service was swift and the staff were happy! The food itself was tasty and presented well. They have a separate vegan menu which is modest in size (but still with actual choice) and big in flavour! They even have vegan desserts, it is worth giving 5 stars just for that. I had the banana blossom, which I thought was taking a gamble as it’s not normally something none vegan chefs do well. It was however exceptionally well cooked. Will definitely be going back!

Worth a visit. Fabulous food for all diets, great atmosphere and great views out over the countryside. Found The Dog Inn after a search on tripadviser and a look on their own website at the menus. Great looking vegan choice and I wasn't disappointed, first time having vegan fish and chips, definitely would recommend. Hubby had a steak which he really enjoyed too. Will be coming back here again.

What a great evening we had on Saturday (meal for two). Really friendly, attentive and welcoming staff with a lovely restaurant area and good atmosphere. The food was top drawer - I had dishes from the Vegan menu, although I'm not vegan, and it was delicious; who knew cauliflower steak could be soo tasty!! Will definitely be returning and telling my friends about this place!

Couldn't fault a thing. The menu was exciting with unusual Vegan options, the food was excellent, with everyone of our party giving 10 out of 10. Staff were very attentive, and great service. Stunning views. Will definitely be back

Took our grown up children for their first visit to The Dog Inn as we had always had lovely food and wanted them to experience if too. However we were disappointed with a few things (even though the food in general was excellent) - 1) the rise in prices. 2) The drinks were very slow in arriving. 3) Plus most importantly, I am a Coeliac and must eat gluten free - I asked which desserts were ok for me and was given 3 options which was good. However when my pannacotta arrived, it had biscuit crumbed all over it. I asked if the biscuit was gf and the lady was flustered and didn't seem to understand what gf was (even though she seemed to be the manager/head waitress). She whisked the dessert away and returned immediately with a new one. Not much apology given to me. Further training should be given as to the importance of gluten free as it's not just a choice of food but essential for coeliacs. If I had eaten the first dessert I would have been violently sick for the whole night.

A delicious meal, well presented and served. Overall a good experience.

Sunday roast is absolutely delicious- always a warm welcome - staff are so friendly. An absolute fantastic restaurant

So nice to visit a pub that belongs to the community, and you really can tell. Service is just wonderful and heartfelt, and the food is gorgeous. Prob the best fish and chips I've ever had and the pickled onion rings are a real treat. My wife had the cheese pie and said it was amazing. It sure looked it. Proper chips.....nothing frozen, and all sprinkled in sea salt. Prices are also extremely good for such wonderful food. We will be back in the next weeks. Defo not disappointed :)

Lynne and I are delighted to support a true Community Pub. We were made very welcome, the food was excellent, the drinks very good value for money and the service was attentive without being obsequious. Lovely location overlooking the Pennine Moors from the heart of Belthorn village. We love walking in this area and will definitely return to the Dog Inn!
