BAD BAD BAD BAD FOOD! This must be the worst Chinese I have ever come across. We entered the restaurant and were not greeted until we asked for a seat. We were ushered to the middle of the dark restaurant that was actually empty, so decided to seat ourselves at the front by the window to get some light. We were disappointed to find that there were no prices on the menu, but thought it would'nt matter as surely prices could'nt be more that £25 - £30 for the both of us??? I had to chase staff to get us a drink then was immediately asked for our order even though we still had our coats on? Then we tried to order our food from 3 different waitresses who couldn't speak very much english which was a difficult task in it self. I ordered the smoked chilli chicken, which when arrived looked like shredded beef but white. It did not taste of chicken or have a smoked taste and looked like white twiglets? However i did eat it as i was starving. My girl freind went for the spring rolls, 2 spring rolls turned up and you could have mistaken them fro what you get at iceland for a childs party!! They must have got them from Iceland - only two. I had crispy duck which was ok but they were very stingy with the cucumber and spring onion?? My girl freind had the tiger prawn and vegetable something? they were not tiger prawns - they must have got them at iceland as well. What mainly up set and insensed me to write this reveiw was the spicy hot chicken i received, I've never tasted any thing as sweet as that and it tasted like sweet and sour sauce - there was not a jot of spice in it and it was not at all hot! Slightly upset at the fact my meal had been spoilt by bad food the bill was given to us £35.80 including drinks which was a tiger beer and an apple juice. The portions were really small, in very small bowls. I decided to complain about the last dish as i said i was not happy to pay for it. Afterwards a crowd of chinese waitresses and various other people from down in the kitchens surrounded us, we eventually agreed to pay £27 as i was finding my self getting slightly angry beyond discussion and needed to remove my self before i started something i would regret. The manager that came out to talk to us also looked like he'd been in the kitchen himself and his tracksuit bottoms were covered in oil - not a good indication of how clean the kitchen should be, bit worrying ! He looked like Rab Nesbit off the TV. PLEASE TELL EVERYONE TO SWERVE THIS RESTAURANT

The Silk Road Restaurant is the place to go. I have visited many restaurants in my life but there is not one that is like this very special place. From the moment you walk through the door the party starts. The place exudes an atmosphere that I have never experienced before. The food is superb but more importantly it is party time all the time. The owner makes you feel as it you have been invited into her home and when the music starts and the staff join in the dancing then you just have to know that you are in a place that has no equal anywhere else. Words will not do this special place justice so read no further, book yourself a table and have a great evening out.

If you haven't eaten at Silk Road yet then you must.. As a regular I've introduced lots of friends and they've all come away hugely satisfied. The food is excellent and great value for money and the ambience is always great. Try to book a table for their fantastic Jazz night and treat yourself-you can always join in with their fabulous belly dancer at weekends if your feeling brave!!!

I ate at this restaurant about 6 weeks ago (April) and went with a friend who used to eat there fairly regularly. The food was absolutely gorgeous.....I cannot remember the Thai names for what I had so won't embarrass myself or insult them by trying. My friend and I shared a starter which although was very nice was very hot, it did warn that it was on the menu and they were not kidding but it was so full of other flavours too beside the chillies! For our next course, I had chicken in garlic and coriander which was absolutely wonderful.. the flavours were just unbelievable.. I rarely am able to finish everything on my plate but I did and wished I had more!! My friend chose a fish dish which she said was scrumptious too. We finished off with light desserts, a sorbet for my friend and I had home made coconut ice cream. The whole meal with a large glass of wine each and jasmine tea to finish and tip was about £50. Pretty good value for such a superb meal and a friendly and welcoming service. Nothing was too much trouble. They were late with our tea in fact as the restaurant did get a bit busy to say the least and they were rushed off their feet, but they did not charge us for it when they did remember and apologised profusely .. no excuses made.. just a simple and sincere apology. Since my last visit, it has changed names (sorry not sure what it is called now as was driving at the time and just noticed it as drove past). However, the telephone number is the same and have literally just booked a table for myself and 5 friends to eat there in June. I will come back and let you know if there are any changes for better or wose. I did enquire about the menu whether it had changed and was advised by a man's voice which I recognised to be the waiter who served us on our last visit, that the menu has not changed except for a few additions - sea bass apparently he said is now also available in addition to other fish dishes. Enjoy! :-)

Had a great meal at the black market last week. I was with a group of friends and we all had great food, a rare thing as we are all fussy.

Poor service, rude staff and terrible food...over priced! Avoid!!!! Food was bland and tasteless. Very little meat and all sauce. Slow service - even though the restaurant was empty. Avoid - I am a major curry fan and I have say The Taj Mahal served me the worse curry I have ever had....worse even than those 'all you can eat buffets!'

This is a great location right on the southern slopes of Highdown Hill just outside Worthing and was, originally, a large square assembly of farm buildings. I said to my wife on several occasions in the past that this would make an excellent site for a Restaurant. Sure enough Vintage Inns (I believe) who are the current owners bought it and converted the site. Credit where credit where credit is due, they did an excellent job and even now, allowing for wear and tear, both the building and the atmosphere is excellent. However, I will not be going back for some time. After a break of some time we returned last week and were again disappointed. Quite simply this is a great opportunity thrown away. The food if the first problem and would describe it simply as "fodder" The menus deteriorated and were simplified rapidly from its opening. The second issue is that the service is diabolical because they are so understaffed. Don't get me wrong, the staff themselves (the few that exist) are excellent, very friendly and truly seem to try hard. There is no surly attitude or anything to offend a customer but they are understaffed. I am led to believe the manager is also of the same nature and was struck by the respect that the staff seemed to show for their efforts. It's the simple fact that there are not enough people to serve. To sum up. For a cold night by a fire or for a summer evening, if you have the time, then go and have a drink otherwise there are plenty of better places around to eat at. Bad Bunny
