You Know Who

The White Horse is a great pub in the village of Easebourne. Well-kept real ales, home-cooked food, large garden, smoker's patio and friendly staff & management make it an ideal place to meet and chat. There is no juke box and no pool table, so the noisier element are discouraged from using this great pub. They also have a great monthly quiz.

yous Chinese restaurant is the best Chinese ever!!! since moving back to london, we miss it alot and if we get the opportunity we still have a drive to east sussex to sample their delicious food and say hello to the lovely friendly staff. its great... you should try it. ;)

Yous Chinese Restaurant – St. Leonards-On-Sea
Sated

Excellent evening meal. Three courses and a bottle of wine for two around £60. Great food, very good service, pleasant environment. Recommended

Food Restaurant – Worthing

Without doubt one of the best value restaurants in the area serving home made fare. An excellent menu that includes traditional roasts - served with five vegetables plus potatoes (on hot plates) satisfies all tastes. The restaurant, favourite with locals, has a welcoming atmosphere the moment you enter and is interestingly decorated with paintings, for sale, from local artists. Tiered decking and a garden at the rear make a nice setting for diners who like to sit in the sunshine. The proprietors really offer service with a genuine smile.

Oceanview Bakery – Pevensey

I'd appreciate it if you could forward this to the restaurant concerned. We stumbled across Wingrove house early last Saturday and enjoyed a drink on their terrace, personally welcomed by the owner. We ordered although the waitress had to leave us 3 times to get more information - she didn't know what the soup of the day was, that girolle was a type of mushroom and what the cut of meat was for the lamb dish. She seemed a bit drunk and I noticed the owner pouring wine for all the staff. The starters were good although I didn't think it was a good idea to serve prawn cocktail from a thin wine glass. I ordered rare sirloin steak and got ribeye, when I pointed this out I was half heartedly offered to change it. I didn't want to wait with my dining partner eating his meal so I declined. However I lived to regret this decision as I chewed and chewed on a tough well done piece of meat. I've had a lot better in Cafe Rouge. Our side order of seasonal vegetables never made an appearance but we were informed both items would be removed from the bill, as if we shodu be grateful. The head waitress handled it better and seemed more on the ball and embarrassed. The owner greeted and served lots of tables but ignored us which was a complete change from the friendly earlier greeting. I noticed he had also been drinking at the bar during the evening and I spoke to him when we left to let him know I was sadly disappointed. He was clearly drunk and became very defensive and aggressive, making no attempt to listen to what I had to say. His response was an immature and sarcastic remark 'We have really failed you haven't we' and stormed off. He was not only extremely rude but very unprofessional and I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had a similar bad experience. If he had any customer service skills he could have easily rectified a bad experience with a simple acknowledgement and/or apology. Needless to say I won't be going there again and would not recommend it to anyone. Bex

When a restaurant seems perpetually full you know you could be on to a good thing. Situated at one end of the atmospheric Old Town, Lathams is a small (ish), friendly and buzzing place to eat and, when we finally chose the right moment to chance our arm at a table, we tested their Sunday lunch. The menu's shorter than normal on a Sunday, but we were happy enough to choose from roast chicken, lamb or beef. Other options got little attention from us, but I noted there was a convincing vegetarian selection on offer too. We began with a compact, surprisingly fluffy fishcake and a ham hock terrine - both excellent. The roast beef had that rare tallow taste that only the happiest cows yield - when they've been allowed to hang properly. The roast potatoes were as good as any in a restaurant I've ever eaten, the Yorkshire pudding firm and soggy in all the right places and the fresh veg exactly the right side of crunchy. Ask for the gravy on the side - the food is too good to be tainted with so much sauce, fine though it was. We even got bread sauce. Sadly we were too full to try Lathams Eton Mess, but shared a creme brulee which came with a satisfyingly crunchy top above a homemade custard belting out vanilla bean flavour. All this, with a bottle of wine, water and a coffee came to just over £50. We're never eating Sunday lunch at home again.

Lathams Brasserie – Hastings

It's been my favorite place to go for a meal for the last 10 years. The level of service is perfect - just right but not too much. We've even brought friends over from the US who agree it's one of the best places they've ever been.

New Evergreen – East Grinstead
Foodie

I was very disappointed with the standard of presentation of food at this restaurant. Looking around at the plates brought to other diners, I noted that it didn't seem to matter what one ordered, the style of presentation was organised around exactly the same features or twirly bits and spots of jous! I thought this restaurant did not deserve its ranking as the best vegetarian restaurant in Brighton. It might have once been the best when it was the only one in its genre of restaurant but it compares poorly against "Food for Friends", another Brighton restaurant in the same category of restaurants. On a national scale, T a T also compares poorly against vegetarian restaurants like David Bann's in Edinburgh - another classy veg restaurant.

Terre à Terre – Brighton and Hove

Ambience fine, food fine, price fine, service the worst I've ever had anywhere! Arrived 7.30 pm and eventually served at 9.50 pm without any apology whatsoever for the extreme delay. Truly disgraceful, especially the waitress's attitude ("I'm only the waitress"). She really couldn't give a damn. They obviously don't know the marketing statistic: lose a customer through bad service and you'll actually lose eight potential customers. There were seven of us so do the maths! Terrible, terrible, terrible!

The Old House at Home – Chichester
Danielle

Really lovely, simple, fresh food! Don't be put off by the appearance on the outside, or be suspicious at how cheap it is. Once inside, it's very cosy and relaxed. The service is excellent, especially as the owner actually knows everything about the dishes he makes. And more importantly, the food is very, very yummy! All the food is home made from fresh ingredients, there's a selection of about 6 dishes per course, including a starter and main of the day. Most of the dishes are traditionally French, however there are other little influences too. Would highly recommend this restaurant for any lovers of real food! It's a little gem! :) :)

Exquis – Eastbourne
Roddy

Well worth the deviation off the main road! Make sure you haven't eaten for the last 24 hours as Ted offers very generous portions!! Basic decor, excellent food, beer and wine.... what more do you need!

Well Diggers Arms – Petworth
Moiphy

Rude people run this establishment.

Tudor Rose – Arundel

Visited with my family and children. We had a super meal, top quality food and loads of it ! The children were very happy in the garden play area, and I must say a special thanks to 'dave' the manager and all his staff who made us all feel very welcome. We will definitely return soon.

Star Inn – Pevensey

Runt in Tun – Heathfield
James

Superb French food at very reasonable prices. Fresh ingredients. So good I went two days in a row. A real treat to find such a quality restaurant in Eastbourne.
