This restaurant is pure genius. I have been coming here with my family since I was knee-high and the comforting welcome provided by George has never changed (nor has the decor, or the food for that matter!). It is a no frills place so if you're one for lavish surroundings maybe it's not for you - put it this way, I have never seen the place mats, salt and pepper pots or oil burners change in the time I've been going. However! This does make it all the more reminiscent and wonderfully cosy. The murals on the walls and the Greek music transport you afar and the food is amazing - I would always recommend the meze and if by some miracle you have space after, George makes a Cointreau coffee to die for - he is a liqueur coffee connoisseur!

We had lunch here today. I love Italian food, especially good Italian food and I was absolutely blown away by the superb quality of the meal. My wife had Penne with a tomato and bacon sauce. Her comment was that this was the best she'd had for years and could easily imagine herself being in Italy while she was eating it. I had Lasagna and I can say that it was the best that I have had since... well actually, probably the best ever. And my daughter (who is gluten intolerant) had a wide choice of food to eat, including gluten-free pasta. We discovered that their sensitivity to this comes from the owner's daughter also being gluten intolerant. This is a family owned, family run restaurant that offered the BEST Italian food and at very reasonable prices. If you adore italian catering, you MUST come here. We will certainly be going back.

I was visiting Bristol with my family from Thailand, my father wanted very much to have a drink in an English Pud and we happen to just walked pass The Old Fish Market on our tour around the city. The staff was very friendly and inviting, the bar man help us to select some great beers or ale. The food was a big plus to our first pub outing, the menu was not your standard Thai food but was a great improvement to some of the Thai restaurants that we have tried in London and Bristol (if not the best). My mother is very picky when it comes to Thai food or any food for that matter, but she loves the food here, the Pad Thai Prawns was the best that she ever had and the rest of my family feel the same way....Over all a great place a good drink, a fantastic place for THAI FOOD...and I'm from Bangkok.. :)

I visited this restaurant last year and had a fab meal, great food great service & reasonably priced.. visited again this year.. waited 45 mins for them to take the order.. which when it turned up was described on the menu as fish soup was in fact fish water no matter how much seasoning my sister added gave it no flavour and it was luke warm, my fish was served burnt and 20 mins after the other main meals.. did get an apology and discount but spoilt my mums 60th treat...

This has become one of our favourite brizzle restaurants! We go down to the harbourside and happily avoid the waterfront, instead opting for delicious cocktails and food (my favourite is the Fillet steak sarnie with lovely melted cheese ... or maybe the fish n chips!

Being new to Bristol, this was one of the first places recommended to me. Wasn't convinced when I first got there, but 1st impressions are very much misleading in this case. Excellent food in very friendly surroundings, great service and a really good range of dishes, including the excellent 9.99 box option, for starter, main course, rice/noodles and salad. Been back there each week for the last 3 weeks and never been disappointed.

Having found it by accident, we have been to Mamma Mia 4 times now. The food is always reasonably priced and of good quality. Staff are always welcoming, helpful and efficient. We chose to go there for a meal on New Year's Eve when I had flu in its last throes and we were made to feel a real part of the extended family with hugs and kisses all round at midnight. We are going there again tonight and intend to book for New Year again.

Having lived in Bristol for almost 4 years now, I still hadn’t managed to get round to eating at San Carlo. Until Friday! After all the recommendations and wholehearted endorsements, I finally booked a table for myself and my husband. I must state that our expectations were naturally high, but am pleased to say that we were not disappointed. Service, wine and especially the food were all absolutely fantastic and we are looking forward to passing on our experiences to those as yet unaware.

Visited the old fish market pub (which houses the Thai kitchens)for the 3rd time in 2 visits to Bristol. The food is very fresh and very tasty...and AMAZING value for money. The pub and restaurant staff are friendly and helpful. We took our children 9 and 11 yrs on our last visit and stayed for 3 hrs (7-10pm). Its a must to eat the food and drink the wine (with recommendations from helpful staff).HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!! A++++++++

Shocked

We had an awful evening last night. We were part of a large party which had booked at least a couple of weeks in advance. There were not enough seats for everyone to start with. We then had to wait for 45 minutes before everyone had a drink - some people having asked several times. We only managed to order our food after an hour of waiting. The food was fine and reasonably priced but the service we received was shocking! One of our party has been vegetarian for over 20 years and ordered a vegetable risotto. However, after eating some it found that there were pieces of salmon in it! It was tasted by someone else who found a big piece. The waiter was called who was very rude and refused to believe that it was salmon, telling us it was tomato! Another plate was brought out, which again, had salmon in it! I took the offending fish on a spoon to the kitchen where another waiter confirmed that yes, it was salmon! He apologised and I informed him that we would not be paying for this dish and were shocked that a vegetarian would be served fish and be spoken to so rudely. I suggested that my friend should be given some compensation for breaking over 20 years of vegetarianism in this manner by offering her a free drink or desert (the least they could do as she was most upset). He said he would go and speak to her and apologise. He did this but there was no mention of any compensation. When I saw that he was not taking this seriously I reminded him about what I had said. He then became very aggressive and shouted at me for daring to ask such a thing, saying I had no right! By this point my friends at the other end of the table were wondering what was happening. I turned round to tell them which prompted him to start shouting at me again! I have never had such shocking service in all of my life and would advise any one to avoid this restaurant like the plague.

Zest is a easy to reach restaurant, which gives you a taste of many choices of mediterranean food to try. Cooked to a high standard and always well presented on the plate not to mention delicious. Really good value for money a fantastic place for group evenings out as well as a cosy romantic dinner for two. Definite place to visit

Two of us enjoyed a fantastic meal in this sparkly contemporary restaurant, this place serves the posh food you see on tv but never get to eat. The staff are smiling, attentive, happy and know all about the food on the menu. We had Starter: Scallops, mmmm. Pate; Delicious. Mains: Steak, wow this place could do a Blk&bleu perfectly, tasty, juicy, tender. Stuffed Rabbit loin, sweet and delicate and amazing. The food was so professionally and prettily presented, it was perfect portion control, allowing you to have a 3 course dinner without feeling hungry or stuffed to bursting point! Wonderful. We decided to go back every week until we've exhausted the menu!

I was unfortunate enough too eat here on Friday. We duly arrived on time and were told too wait at the bar, no complimentary drinks, we complained several times and were eventually seated over 25 mins late. When the starters came out, they were very disappointing. One was covered in olive oil and the other was saturated in fat!!! We duly complained, the manager became very aggressive to a female in the party and it was only when we pointed out the timescale he relented. The mains did arrive and were satisfactory at best, that is being generous. When we came to pay, nothing had been deducted from the bill and they even charged for service!!! I have spoken to several people and this appears to be a common complaint. I will not be going back for a long time and have ensured that anyone I know who uses it regularly is enlightened.

The moment you pass through the small archway by the takeaway area, you are immediately transported to a small village taverna in Cyprus. The owner Mr George Ioannou (with his big friendly grin) and his wife Flora, welcome you to your table, whilst in the background Greek music softly plays though the many speakers around the walls. The food is typically Greek Cypriot and is made entirely by the owners, George and Flora. The doner-kebab (which is one of my favourites) is available, takeaway and on the restaurant menu, It tastes like it was made by Aphodite herself). If you enjoy lamb and lots of it, then the kleftiko is highly recommended as is the Bagadakia (lamb chops) and dont forget the meze! It is one of the best you will ever have in your life. The atmosphere is always very friendly and if you come here enough times you will see lots of familiar faces as the customers tend to come back time and time again. There is never a rushed atmosphere here, George will never try to push you out, in fact once you have become a friend of his, he is more likely to say to you "What's you hurry?" But dont take my word for it, try it for yourself, you wont regret it, I promise!

I would recommend The Living Room just for the cocktails (which were great) but the food was excellent as well ! So good to be able to go out and have a steak cooked properly! The atmosphere was chilled out but service was still sharp. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would go back.
