Albion Public House and Dining Rooms – CliftonVisited this venue at end of May 2010. The previous comments about booking are, to say the least, generous. Tried booking by phone TWICE......not a dicky bird!! As I work locally I then went in to book. Should have realised at this point that things didn't look good!!! Anyway, eventually got owner to agree a booking for 6. Turned up for meal and table prepared. Owner spent most of evening "doing paperwork" and ignored his (paying) clientele. The one waitress, who has been there for 28 years, we felt should should not be in a service industry. Many minor niggles, but when it came to the coffee, I could not believe what happened. Having requested a sweetener I was informed, abruptly that it was the first time in 28 years she had been asked for some, and informed me , that as I had had a desert, I obviously didn't need sweeteners!!! I then informed her that I was diabetic, and if I wanted a sweetener I felt she should have them in the restaurant. At the same time my wife asked for HOT milk with her coffee. The waitress then said , very rudely "No, we don't have fresh milk. If we had that and sweeteners we would have to put our prices up" When the chef departed she looked like thunder as well. Having said all that, the food was adequate, not "French", We obviously left no tip, and being well known around town we now positively advise people not to visit this eaterie. Their loss, they should get themselves sorted out.
La Bonne Vie – TauntonHaving read all the brilliant reviews on this website, I decided to try blue ginger. Firstly, when i got there, i was disappointed by quiet atmosphere, we were the only customers there. Some Indians are bustling but this one, probably because it is new, was practically empty. We looked at the menu and they have a mishmash of things, including some fruity curries and nans which took me by surprise. The service was below average, with the waiters not being attentive considering the place was dead. They don't serve alcohol either which really disappointed us :( Having read some of the reviews again on this page, i realised they are very similar in what they say, which is quite suspicious. Try it or yourself and see, but i speak as a genuine visiting customer and this was my experience of blue ginger. I would stick to my other Indian whitchurch local ;)
Blue Ginger – KingswoodDisappointed by food, although the venue itself is nice. Wouldn't recommend to a friend too expensive and not worth the value. Sorry but that my opinion!
Blue Ginger – KingswoodFound it astonishing that this place has so many reviews when it has literally just opened..but anyway..ok food, standard indian. Doesn't really stand out for me, service was slow even though its wasn't that busy, and no alcohol which was a major turn off.
Blue Ginger – KingswoodWell to start off with. This restaurant Is something else ! I am a regular curry eater. ( 3 times a week ) so are most of my family and friends. We having been eating at a local rest since 2004 ; ) . Have tried all the ones in Bristol and bath. But then decided to try this blue Ginger . I have been eating Curry's since I remember, and believe me when I say I know what is good food when I taste it. And blue Ginger ticks all the box's ! This restaurant just shines out. I have block booked for the next three months for the weekends. ( just to be on the safe side ) me and my family and friends would like to wish blue Ginger all the success they deserve ! It's like a pebble when u drop it in a pond and the ripple starts soon the ripple will spread an we all will know blue Ginger !
Blue Ginger – KingswoodWent to visit blue ginger after driving past and booked a table for me and my partner. Thoroughly disappointed by the food, didn't really have a kick and have tried many better curries around Bristol. There are better local Indians around in my opinion, and the fact that they don't serve alcohol was worse. How can you expect customers to get their own drinks? You may as well get a takeaway or delivery at home. Try the Paprika down the road instead for a meal you wont forget.
Blue Ginger – KingswoodThe above reviews must all be fake as I ate there once and it was atrocious. I refused to pay is was that bad and as a result, the miserable owner banned me from ever going again (as if I'd want to!).
Kebab House The – Bristol City CentreI was looking for an Indian restaurant somewhere to go on a first date. I spotted a review for this place on sugarvine and decided to try it out. So went along last night and lets just put it this way my date was impressed and i was even more so. The date and the food were excellent. I think this is the one. That's the Indian I'll be going back next week with friends and can't wait. BEST INDIAN IN BRISTOL.
Blue Ginger – KingswoodBlue Ginger, well what can i say i spotted this restaurant on the off chance, whilst driving past and decided to take the missus for a bite to eat. We were greeted by a very professional waiter, the atmosphere was wonderful, the restaurant is finished to a very high standard almost like an art deco theme not your usual Indian. The tandoor food we ordered was the best me and my wife have ever had! and the rest of the food was equally as good. Exceptional service and high quality foods what more can you ask for. My advice try it...You won't be disappointed. Remember to take your own drinks!!!
Blue Ginger – KingswoodGreat Indian. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is splendid with a fantastic selection of Naan breads which are top quality. Have had several meals there now and every one has been perfect. Definitely a notch above Paprika, who tend to serve most of their meals floating in grease. The fact that it is a B.Y.O is thumbs up. It makes it such a cheaper night, after all, why pay £3.50 a pint when you can take a four pack for the same money?
Blue Ginger – KingswoodDear All, I recently visited Blue Ginger with friends... What can i say this place is AMAZING! If you haven't tried it you don't know what your missing out on. Firstly there was a great atmosphere and a real buzz about the place. The waiters were polite, helpful and very well trained and this was evident in the service that was provided. We were quick to be seated the decor is beautiful and there is an essence of glamour about the place. Definitely a place for a celebration. This restaurant is BYAO bring your own alcoholic drinks....and i love this idea! Lighter on the pocket and lighter on the bill. The waiters were superb friendly, inviting, warm i can't speak highly enough of them. Our food came out swiftly one course after another. The food was in good portions and devilishly more-ish. Our drinks were poured for us on request. Superb starter, marvellous main, delicious dessert. Having been to the east many times British Indian food that is good is hard to come by. This is the exception divine and i've already become a regular! Well worth a visit. Best Indian in the south west!
Blue Ginger – KingswoodBlue ginger is a nice new place to go n eat out, brill looking decor and friendly staff, and food was good. Downside includes no alcohol which would ve been a bonus rather than poppin down to the off licence to buy it myself as a curry (for me)is nicely complemented by a wine/beer. Food was good but not outta this world, the Paprika restaurant down the road wins for food but for atmosphere Blue ginger is better.
Blue Ginger – KingswoodWe visited recently as it has been taken over and were not disappointed. There's now a lovely garden restaurant at the back and a terrace if the weather is fine. My partner had the steak and said that it was one of the best he had ever had and I had a goats cheese tart which was delicious. I noticed that they are doing steak promotion on Wed night so maybe we'll come back then! We didn't have dessert but they are all home made.
