Pettigrew Tea Rooms – CardiffFood was excellent, unfortunately like other reviews service needs attention. The young man working in the Cellar bar was RUDE, I have heard he is soon leaving and perhaps venturing to a new career as he is definitely not suited for the hospitality industry!
Llys Meddyg Pembrokeshire – NewportGorgeous food. The rib eye steak was beautifully cooked , a real treat. If you enjoy a burger…try the Copper Pot. Best ever! Lovely setting and friendly , attentive staff. Highly recommend.
The Copper Pot – CardiganA lovely place with great potential. Unfortunately we arrived on an evening when things were in a state of flux at the front of house. The food was great but let down by the chaotic service. New staff not well briefed and too of them. Problems were ameliorated after some negotiations re the bill! Hopefully things will improve.
Llys Meddyg Pembrokeshire – NewportThe restaurant was less than half full. After waiting half an hour for our drinks, my wife went to one of the servers to ask for some progress on this. The asparagus sarter was hopelessly undercooked. The hake was entirely unseasoned. It had a crust, I think, of dukka, which was tasteless. (Dukka is not usually cooked. It is scattered on a finished dish). Beneath the hake was some sprouting brocolli, Again, undercooked. It was like trying to eat a piece of string.
Llys Meddyg Pembrokeshire – NewportLovely place to eat. We always come here for a special treat when we are on holiday in the area. Magical setting , fabulous food and helpful friendly staff
Llys Meddyg Pembrokeshire – NewportBirthday treat. Had the garlic mushroom starter which was the best we’ve had. Very pleased. 12oz steak and a lamb steak. Both delicious and cooked well. Only observation was an overload of skinny fries and salad. Maybe less fries and more quality chips and a nice salad garnish would really enhance the experience.. Very much enjoyed otherwise. Thank you.
Kookaba Saundersfoot – TenbyA gem of a restaurant which offers a quality of food well above average. Manageress Ellie provides a warm and professional welcome and the waiting staff are knowledgeable, courteous and efficient. There is clearly both ambition and talent in the kitchen, and what stands out is attention to detail. Miso butter accompanies excellent sourdough bread, while cheesy croquettes are superb as an amuse-bouche. There are five starters and five main dishes, with good variety and very imaginative combinations. Local sourcing is very much in evidence and the raw materials chosen are of uniformly high quality. Highlights among the starters were smoked duck breast and cured fillet of salmon, while main dishes which impressed included a superbly fresh fillet of hake, a shoulder of Welsh lamb and a piece of sirloin partnered with miso-flavoured ox cheek. A plate of roasted pork belly was one of the best examples I have tasted of this fashionable dish. Desserts were at the same level of quality. There was finesse and skill in every dish. The wine list is wide-ranging and fairly priced. I would have liked a slightly better representation of the classic grapes such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, but then again I am a wine merchant so am more awkward in this respect. Overall a marvellous dining experience, and fairly priced, too.
Llys Meddyg Pembrokeshire – NewportExcellent Sunday Lunch. Brisket melt in the mouth. Veg plentiful. extra gravy not an issue. Plate of food was exactly as ordered. should think about offering a Trio option of Beef, Chicken and Pork. We have been before (several times|) and will definitely be back again.
The Inn At Rhiwderin – NewportExcellent front of house and service as usual. Wonderful Sunday lunch in a relaxed environment.
