We have just eaten for the first time at The Croft and have been forced to pay the service charge. Our server said he wasn't able to take it off when we asked for it to come off as we wanted to leave our own tip. He said it says on the menu that service charge is on top and is compulsory. We didn't read that and in fact in the window it says a discretionary service charge. Service wasn't up to much. Didn't even ask how the food was or if we wanted a dessert. Guess imposing a service charge on the bill means a guaranteed tip and therefore no need to check on customer satisfaction. Have reported this to them using their online form as the server was insistent that it couldn't be taken off. While we would have ordinarily paid a tip we feel that we have been pushed into paying top dollar for service that we never had. Shame as food was good but being frequent visitors to Bourton-On-The-Water we shall be avoiding in the future.

Such a gem to find. Food really tasty and great menu. Staff just so friendly and helpful. Couldn’t do enough for you. Went with my husband and daughter and wish we’d found it earlier. All had different food and all loved the food. They are dog friendly and do take away. They also have rooms where you can stay but I don’t know what they are like, expect really lovely as the restaurant is just so well set up. Outside seating and comfy seating in restaurant and bar. We will be back and recommend fully

Good food, nice atmosphere and friendly service. We have dined here before a number of times when visiting Bourton and it has always been an enjoyable experience, will dine there again when in the area.

Bed so comfy my wife slept so well. Breakfast think maybes hash brown and black pudding sausage not that good quality. Apart for breakfast we ate out staff friendly

Disappointed.Booked table having looked at online menu Two items of the few options not included,no sausage and mash and no homemade pie option.seems burgers are the specialty of course with chips. Wouldn’t return

Went here twice for an evening meal on a recent stay in Bourton. Couldn't really fault it. Lovely helpful staff. Weather was good enough to sit outside in a lovely setting. Highly recommended.

Lovely place. The staff were lovely too and really helpful as we had a pensioner in a wheelchair in our party. The food was superb . I can recommend the cold meat starter.

Beautiful meal, lovely staff who were all friendly and attentive Steak, sea bass, carbonara and lasagne all recommended!!!

Has breakfast here the food is great very tasty and good quality, the staff are very professional and courteous and nothing is too much trouble for those picky orders Will be going again because there is no point as great meals/ service

Had a nice meal here Sunday evening but the experience could have been better. The menu isn't extensive, so we both chose fish dishes from the specials board. The food was really nice and served professionally and promptly. The only downside was the service after the meal and wine was served. We'd finished our meal and it was a good 30 mins later when my appetite for a desert had diminished, that we called it an evening and settled the bill. The restaurant wasn't busy, with just 10 covers in use including ourselves, so I'd expect the table to be cleared & to be asked if we would like a desert menu etc. The food and ambience was worthy of the bill but unfortunately the service wasn't.

The standard has in the past been high and we were not disappointed this time. Lovely staff , excellent service and superb food. We had a lovely evening. Thank you.

Overall impressions, disappointment. Two girls working very hard but clearly understaffed. Food was not bad enough to send back but was disappointing. My burger was dry and my wife’s fish was also dry and a small portion. The chips were overcooked and too crispy. Will not be returning.

We had 2 starters from the specials menu which were lovely. However our mains were a mixed review, carbanara was lovely, lasagne average at best and lacking in flavour. Desert was a similar story. Affogato very nice but the tiramisu was watery and again lacked flavour. Quite disappointing that staple Italian dishes were not executed well at an Italian restaurant. Service however was good and could not fault staff. Wouldn't return due the food quality though if we were in the area again.
