Excellent pub and well managed. Confident and pleasant staff offering great service. …….and good food well presented.

First point the staff were excellent. The place too and its position, however the food was not chose for my wife signature dish carbonara and it was not nice too sloppy in presentation and texture. The chicken dish was also overcooked not seasoned correctly so was not very good. The wine choice by the staff was excellent however and I could not fault any of them they were great.

We had an excellent meal, the food was very fresh. The owner and staff were so welcoming and made you feel really special. Would recommend and will definitely go back.

Amazing, authentic food in beautiful surroundings, this building doesn’t need embellishment and the simplicity is soothingly calm. Fantastic service from charming and attentive staff, the owner is engaging and a real people person. It was incredibly warm and he moved our table outside for us to cool off! Our wine was wonderful and not overpriced. Marvellous.

Had a lovely meal the food was very authentic what you would expect in Rome. Took 2 Italian friends and they loved it as well

Had a fabulous Sunday roast , food was delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive. The bar and dining areas were clean and had a lovely fresh feel. The menu had a great mix of traditional and Italian style food. Will definitely be booking again.

Very welcoming, a lovely family. Super Scallops starter, Over salted fish dish for mains. Hen night came in and we were left with the youngsters as #waiters They did well... considering. Atmoshere okay, a little pricey.

Fantastic Italian restaurant, great Roman food with good menu options, makes a great change from the normal menu offered at (Italian) chain restaurants… The owner is very friendly and provides great service at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend

Cibo sopraffino e vera carbonara romana! Carbonara n 49 is an authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of Chester and chef Massimiliano is an amazing ambassador of the Italian cuisine in the UK. Me and my husband are both Italian and I lived in Rome many years before moving in the UK, so my standards are very high! The staff didn’t disappoint and it was amazing to have a beautiful meal there. We’ll come back with friends! Thank you!

An Italian restaurant that is authentic and very good quality. Chester is blessed with a number of independent restaurants, especially Italian, and Carbonara is excellent. We haven't been to all of the others because we keep coming back here.

We absolutely love this hidden gem. The food is exceptional, focused on the very best ingredients and the quality is obvious. The family who own and run this restaurant are just delightful! Best welcome and service we have ever had. Well worth a visit… you will definitely go back.

On a recent visit to Chester we decided to book Carbonara due to the reviews we had read & we certainly weren't disappointed. The menu isn't massive like many Italian restaurants, but this is a case of quality over quantity & when I say quality, the food was superb, fantastic pasta & sauces, and it was good value for money. Service was attentive and the owner, who was also cooking, took the effort to come and speak to us, which shows he very much cares. I would highly recommend this place.

Lovely old building in the Rows in Chester. Authentic Italian food. The lunch nenu was great value for money. Three courses £17.95 including coffee. The staff were friendly and helpful - even the chef came out to introduce himself. We will definitely return.

Fabulously charming Italian restaurant in Chester. Had a truly tasty meal last night with some great mixology cocktails . All 3of us had the grilled fish selection with sides of peas and pancetta and fried courgette sticks . Portion size was just enough and cooked beautifully . The attention to detail in service was a joy to see . We finished with home made tiramisu and gelato again tasting wonderful and cooked classically Italian . The bill total including drinks was £150 which in this day and age and to be served so very well was a great result . Thankyou to all the staff who cooked or served us last night it truly made our mums 79 birthday a great success
