second visit in a couple of months, very good choice of dishes available and very good fish dishes available which was a surprise. Very friendly atmosphere and a choice of two dining rooms to choose from. children’s menu was a bit sketchy though with Ribeye steak (very good) to pasta (boring and pricey), which we mentioned to the owner. We will definitely visit again and stay over next time as the rooms are beautiful.

Have been eating out at the Copy Nook for years. Varied menu which never disappoints and good, friendly, consistent service.

My husband and I visited the Three Fishes for our first wedding anniversary back in May. We had travelled all the way from Manchester because we knew the food would be good. As predicted the food was spot on, especially the Formby asparagus - I didn't realise it grew in the sand dunes!! I don't really understand why people have a problem with the no booking policy. We gave the staff our names and it was added to the chalk board. We then chilled out over a glass of pimms/guiness and had a good look through the menu. Even though the place was rammed, we only had to wait 20 minutes. I hate to be rushed so this system is ideal. The only problem I have with the place is the lack of atmosphere once they have stopped serving food. We got the impression that people are not encouraged to stay for drinks once they have finished their meal. Also, why don't they sell Jim Beam or Jack Daniels???? Very odd.

The setting is outstanding, especially if you are lucky enough to have a window table. The food is delicious and I really liked their attitude towards our 13 & 9 yr old children. Without us having to ask, we were told they would do smaller sized portions of the menu for the children and could do a couple of different dishes if nothing appealed to them. They were also happy to serve any sauces on the side, rather than over the dish to enable to children to try the sauces/dressings first. The waiter was attentive and again, made an understated fuss of the children - he got it just right. My daughter asserted the sea bass was the best she'd ever had! The food was faultless. The only negative thing I would say is that having been several times now, it's rather formal and the majority of the customers on every occasion have been in their 50's & over. It's a place where we take our parents on special occasions, & they absolutely adore it, but we wouldn't go there on our own. If it's a modern place with a buzzy atmosphere, this is not the place for you.

This restaurant is truly fantastic. I have been at least 15 times since it opened about three or four years ago. The food, wine & service are all better than you could ever wish for. It does not even compare to other Italian restaurants I have visited. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

This has become a regular eating place for us - weekend lunchtimes and evenings - and we have always been delighted with the standard of food and service. The prices, for the quality of food, are modest compared to similar restaurants in the area. The owners have made a real effort with staff training and attention to detail.

Thursday 29/3/07 We arrived on a wet and dismal day, but the staff made us feel very welcome, We were meeting relations from Leeds and wanted to relax and have a good lunch and a chat. We were not disappointed The food was brilliant, from the home made soup to the rag steak puddings, to a belly busting jam roly poly. With the warm welcome continuing all afternoon. nothing was too much trouble. A brilliant fine and we will be back again. As chairman of the Bury IAM. this would be a great place for a Sunday drive or treasure hunt ending here for a meal.

Martina and Jon have worked wonders to provide a very welcoming establishment. We stayed here on our wedding anniversary - food was fantastic, accommodation very clean and provided a very peaceful nights sleep. We took our 4 month old son with us and the staff went out of their way to make us welcome and comfortable. Great base for walking in the area, great scenery and away from the crowds. Highly recommended!

Pleasant comfortable surroundings with a welcoming open fire. The 3 course Sunday lunch represents excellent value and good no-nonsense traditional English fair. One of those rare dining experiences where no- one is trying to rip you off. A very pleasant experience.

We are regulars here - there is always a warm welcome and the staff are friendly yet professional. Steaks and pasta are always excellent. The restaurant is also very child-friendly.

The Parkers Arms has recently been taken over by the same people who own and run Weezo's. Using local suppliers they provide fantastic hearty pub food supported by an exquisite wine list. I would strongly recommend a visit to this little gem of a pub nestled in one of the most scenic areas of England. With open roaring fires in the winter and cooler months, it is the ideal place to relax after enjoying the many varied walks around the local area. Or even if you just want a run out in the car, where better to go.

First time on sugarvine (recommended to me, I'm impressed, will return) and first time to the Red Pump Inn on a friends say-so. Don't expect scrubbed pine tables and contempory art, this place is a country inn and has a menu to match, lots of game (I had roast partridge which was excellent), very good choice of local steak and my wife had the belly pork and could not compliment it enough. Very good first visit. Warm (huge roaring fire a delight), clean and friendly. I was very impressed by the attitude the staff had with my son (Archie aged 9 years; thinks he's 16) particularly on a Friday night at 8.30pm. Often problematic when offered a children? menu, but must congratulate the Red Pump in a superb choice for younger folk. Archie had a medium-cooked rib-eye steaks and chips off the children? menu and ate without a murmur for almost half an hour....we were worried for a while but he seemed to come to when the deserts came. Lemon and lime cheesecake excellent, brioche bread and butter pudding excellent and gooey chocolate brownie had the same silencing effect on our son. We will definitely return. Very very good indeed.

We've never had a bad meal here and the food is always top notch. It's great to eat with a tablecloth under your plate(call me old fashioned) rather than from a wood or plastic table. The staff are excellent and well trained. Food comes at a reasonable pace with just the right distance between courses. Wine is well chosen and not exorbitant. The resident proprietors are attentive to detail and I believe that this is one of the best restaurants in Lancashire.

This was my second visit to the Red Pump Inn, last year we stumbled across it on a drive out for my dad's birthday and came away very happy customers. What a rare treat in the world of microwaves and instant meals to find a place so committed to real home made food and local produce. This time we visited for my mums birthday and once again we were overwhelmed by the lovely atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff and excellent choice of food on offer. We'd had family members who had not been before and they left feeling as we had the first time we visited. Jon and Martina could not make people feel more at home and local even though we aren't (we drove up from Liverpool) and I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. thank you Red Pump Inn for making every visit special.

Travelled for 3/4 hour to get here. Packed to the rafters. Like a posh "brewers fayre". Not for my age group really I don't think. Very good reviews and general "foody" books do place this restaurant on a very high pedestal but I don't really think it is a genuinely outstanding place at all. Other very good "inns" around the area much more worthy of a visit although it is great to have such a tourist attraction in the valley like the fishes so I can't mark it too low. Being a lecturer.... it could do better and coasts a bit on its reputation
