The 1823 Spinning Block @ Holmes Mill – ClitheroeExcellent birthday meal at the Aspinall Arms near Whalley. A gorgeous location, attentive service and we all enjoyed our meals. My cheese pie was very tasty. A superior pub!
Aspinall Arms – ClitheroeVisited the Assheton Arms over the Easter weekend. We sat outside with a drink and admired the view before dining, as the sun was shining. The food was lovely, biggest piece of salmon I have ever been served in a restaurant. The service was spot on and the staff very friendly. We will definitely be returning next time we are in the area.
Assheton Arms – ClitheroeExcellent food & service. Food freshly prepared, very pleasant environment.
Coach and Horses – ClitheroeWe came for the first time to the Coach and Horses for a meal on Mothering Sunday. It was a privilege to dine there. We found the food delicious, the service spot on. The pub itself is a little gem in the heart of the Ribble Valley. Thank you for making our day very special.

3 Millstones Inn – ClitheroeWe were four ladies meeting for lunch. The table was beautifully set and the staff were most attentive without being overbearing . We asked for a slight variation on the menu and it was no problem at all. We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and the ambience of the restaurant . Can’t wait to go back.

Coach and Horses – ClitheroeWow, seriously a hidden gem. Can't believe I hadn't heard of it before. Beautiful looking Inn with rooms, restaurant and a brewery! The bedrooms are stunning and I love the vibe and colour schemes in the bar. Food was very good indeed and I really like their real ale brewed on site! Highly recommended!
Coach and Horses – ClitheroeSimply gorgeous soup with warm cheese and bacon rolls. What a beautiful day looking out over the countryside from my table!
Greendale View Kitchen and B&B – ClitheroeWhat a find. I’m a fairly regular visitor to Whalley but had somehow missed this great restaurant on Station Road. A nice atmosphere and beautiful food when we visited on a Friday night – the vodka and dill-cured salmon was a delight and I’ve never had such tender pork. Well worth seeking out if you’ve not visited before and open during the day too.
Breda Murphy Restaurant – ClitheroeReally enjoyed my lunch of friend chilli Halloumi with hummus salad and flatbread. I also very much like the relaxed vibe of this modern Greek kitchen in Clitheroe. Recommended
Brizola Bar & Grill – ClitheroeA very busy and popularcafe specialising in hot chocolate, shakes, waffles and coffee. I enjoyed my milkshake very much.
The Chocolate Works – ClitheroeOne of my favourite pubs! Beautiful location in a unique village Downham
Assheton Arms – ClitheroeHad an excellent lunch here today. And I also really enjoyed hearing the passion of the owner has for food and clean, healthy, organic food. Everything is made in-house and I took some of their gorgeous bread away. if you care about what you put in your mouth and where it comes from then eat here. They now have bedrooms too!
Greendale View Kitchen and B&B – ClitheroeSaturday lunch at the newly garlanded AA English Restaurant of the Year. It’s a real achievement for a Lancashire country pub to get this prestigious national award so we were really keen to give it a go. Finding it is half the battle (it’s in the tiny hamlet of Wiswell between Whalley and Clitheroe). Then you need to find an on-road parking spot which isn’t easy either. But it’s well worth the effort. The place has a lovely feel, mixing the old with the new décor-wise, and there was a choice of menus at lunchtime, including the full tasting menu if you really want to go for it. Lots of great-looking dishes and I went for the hake as a starter (served with a cheese fondue and ham sauce) and the mountain hare as a main (with aged parmesan, blackberries and whipped polenta). Great wine selection too (including by the glass) if that’s your thing. If I’m totally honest, it was a bit rich for lunchtime but that’s just my preference. And the service was a bit spotty. But minor quibbles really. Give it a go yourself.
