Shuttle and Loom The – DarlingtonBest restaurant in Darlington - food, service and ambience is excellent - Sally, Raymond, Wendy and all the staff make dining out a delightful experience.
Eastern Bamboo – DarlingtonHaving recently moved to Darlington, we tried most of the local Chinese restaurants and take aways but found nothing particularly good. Then a menu for Peking Chef was popped through our letterbox. It was quite far away from our house, but we decided to give it a go. I am so glad we did, Peking Chef is by far the best Chinese food in Darlington, and is as good as any we have tried anywhere else. Beautiful food, at very reasonable prices. I am happy to drive a bit further to collect from this fantastic take away. If you have not tried them yet, then I suggest you do, they also deliver. They are in the high grange/faverdale area.
Peking Chef – DarlingtonHad a great night out with friends in the new Mexican restaurant in Darlington. excellent food prepared right in front of our eyes, flavour was full on and different to what you get any where else. I also sat at the bar for half an hour where the bar man told me all about Tequila. Very recommended
Voodoo Cafe – Darlingtonthis takeaway is the best in the town if not the whole of England! Egg foo young is out of this world and the chicken balls are the size of your fist! Highly recommended to go any where else would be a crime
Peking Chef – DarlingtonThis is one of the best kept secrets in the area, good food freshly cooked, specials every day. The wife is the chief and the husband looks after the front of house. Good wine by the bottle or glass, super service from the young waiters and waitresses. I define you to have a bad meal. Plus sensible prices. We have been going for 5 years
Blacksmiths Arms – Darlingtonwent to friends 40th last Friday in one of the two sumptuous private dinning rooms, it was a superb evening, staff very courteous and attentive, great wine list and food fabulous, not surprise to read in northern echo today, first pub in darlington area to be entered in new michelin guide 2010.
Bay Horse Inn – Darlingtonappalling pub/restaurant. Rude staff, tasteless unappealing food. The worst public house that i have ever visited in my entire life.
Pennyweight The – DarlingtonThe George and Dragon looks good, but....Oh dear. What kind of people think the food is nice? We went for Sunday lunch, and it took 3 hours!!!!! Average meat, unsalted/buttered veg, schoolgirls serving without a clue. It didn't help that my mother-in law had had a similar experience during the week with friends who had come fifty miles on her recommendation, Rubbery meat and landlord with 'can't be bothered' attitude. What on earth did they pay Mike Amos for his review in the Echo. We will be sticking to the decent places to eat. Go back to plumbing mate!
George and Dragon – Darlingtonhad a fantastic evening, hosted by Kendra and Les, The food was presented superbly and tasted devine. The choice of south american beers is huge, and looks like they cater for all tastes. The Modelo is a nice light hopsy beer, went well with the nachos would rate them as A+ for taste, A+ for quantity, A+ for presentation, A+ for hospitality well worth booking
Voodoo Cafe – DarlingtonHad a great night, food excellent and not expensive, with some original beers from all over South America. Can't wait to go back highly recommended.
Voodoo Cafe – DarlingtonWould not recommend this restaurant at all, my wife was served 3 raw prawns at a price of 7.95 followed by a fish dish at 14.95, very small portions therefore additional veg and chips required which were extra, to add to the insult I ordered steak and kidney pie which came with very rare steak and kidney and what I can only describe as a square dumpling on the top. We were given a free drink however this did not compensate for the rare occasion we have a child free evening. I would recommend that this restaurant spends more time on producing quality rather than very pricey presentation!!
Bay Horse Inn – DarlingtonExcellent home cooked food, definitely worth a visit.
Baydale Beck Inn – DarlingtonSimply the best food in the area, consistently so,efficient happy service, good wine list, very good value, worth the taxi fare, wish I could dine there more often.
Oak Tree Inn The – DarlingtonUnfortunately The Chequers seems to have gone rather downhill since the above recommendations were written in 2006. WE visited last Saturday night and were surprised at how empty the restaurant was for a Saturday night. The food was average rather than being special and the portions not overly generous. The waiting staff were friendly but all appeared very inexperienced. What was also off-putting was the sheer amount of 'stuff' hanging from the ceiling, walls, and on shelves which made the place feel very claustrophobic indeed and certainly not a classy venue.
The Chequers Inn – DarlingtonThis is the coolest place I've ever eaten in. Mexican food full of taste, and the best price ever. A great place to meet people and drink a good cup of coffee and you can sit out side as well when the sun is shining.
Voodoo Cafe – DarlingtonWhat a fantastic Indian restaurant, food is out of this world, service second to none, take away also top class would recommend, go on give it a go you will not be disappointed
Spice Garden – DarlingtonUsed to be good but has gone downhill. Now serves very sweet curries with glace cherries as garnish! Avoid.
Garden Of India – Darlington
