We were gifted an Afternoon Tea to celebrate our Golden Wedding. Having various food allergies we were assured that I could be accommodated with a savoury selection of food, my husband the normal afternoon tea.. They were not kidding absolutely everything was superb and delicious! The wonderful staff had decorated our table with beautiful flowers, and were a delight, nothing was too much trouble.. There was a lovely friendly atmosphere within the restaurant, without any fussiness, it felt very comfortable. Thank you everyone at Renishaw Hall Restaurant for making our day very special..

We had previously booked afternoon tea for 4 people for our anniversary. We were not disappointed. The table was decorated beautifully and the food was delicious. We didn't feel rushed and everything arrived in a timely manner. This is our third afternoon tea at Renishaw and they have never disappointed. The staff are friendly but unobtrusive which made for a relaxed enjoyable afternoon. Looking forward to the next one.

We have a lovely evening meal for a party of 6. We ordered the pizza and gyros. All was amazing. We will definitely be coming back. The best pizza we have had in a long time. The lady that served us was friendly and helpful too.

We visited Renishaw Gardens and Cafe on the 16th May for my mums birthday. We found Phil at the visitors centre very welcoming and helpful, I am a wheelchair user and he took the time to show us the accessible routes on the map. The gardens were great however the weather was wet so we didn’t spend too long in the gardens we will be back when the weather turns warmer. We had afternoon tea at the cafe and the table was decorated lovely, the food was delicious and all the staff were very friendly. It was a lovely experience which I would recommend .

Book a table with friends and wasn’t disappointed. Food was prompt and very tasty. There was a good variety of food , and caters for all kinds of dietary needs. Staff were polite and friendly. Will be visiting again.

We enjoyed an excellent visit to the wonderful gardens at Renishaw Hall. We also ate at the Garden Cafe twice, lunch and tea and cake later. Our lunch reservation had been lost somehow. From reading other reviews there seems to be a disconnection between the sugarvine thing and the staff in the restaurant. We were not deterred by the long queue to order food, but an operational audit of the order process could achieve some improvements. Food was excellent, service great.

I booked a table for lunch online which was easy to do. We arrived and it was quite chaotic as I tried to speak to someone on the staff to inform them that we were here and had booked a table. It took a while to get a member of staff to see us or hear us as I was trying to be noticed. Eventually someone saw us but couldn’t find our booking as it had been online but they just had a bit of paper with names on it. Another lady on the staff said she hadn’t got access to the laptop to check our booking but took us to a table anyway. After looking at the menu I went to the counter to order but was beaten to the queue by a table of 10 ladies who all had to order individually as well as other people in the queue. I turned round and went to my husband and we decided to leave it. I informed a member of staff who was lovely and apologised. We went on our walk round the gardens and returned to the cafe to see if it was quieter which it was by then. We ordered our choices but it took ages as there was clearly staffing issues as the member of staff didn’t know the menu or the toll system so well and had to check in the kitchen whether they were still serving and still had what we wanted. The food came quite quickly which was great as we were quite hungry having had to delay our lunch. It was all lovely, very fresh , well presented and well cooked. We spoke to the waitress who I had previously spoken to about leaving earlier and she said they were short staffed but also weren’t allowed to do table service which we thought was the way forward to improve the service here. It is such a shame this can’t be improved as this isn’t the first time I have been caught up in a very long queue at Renishaw. It is painfully slow and inefficient . It is an amazing place and always provides good choice, delicious food and the staff are on the whole friendly.

We really enjoyed our lunch, the food was lovely, the setting was great, the staff were helpful and friendly, the only disappointment was having to queue to order and pay, it would be much better if it was waiter service. Having said that we will definitely return.

Had a fabulous breakfast with a friend. Could not fault the food, cooked to perfection and ample portions. The cafe is a lovely place to visit and one of my favourites. The staff are so warm, friendly and welcoming. Can highly recommend a visit.

We booked the table around 4 weeks prior to the day, using the telephone and speaking with a REAL person, who was extremely helpful. The table was booked for Friday the 3rd of May at 12:15. We arrived around 12:00 noon and were greeted by a very nice young Lady, who showed us to our table and offered us the menus. Three of us chose fish and chips, with peas, homemade tartar sauce and bread and butter. Our other friend ordered cheese and onion quiche, with chips and homemade coleslaw. The food arrived really quickly and all four meals within minutes. All the meals were very well presented and were ALL delicious! All four plates were completely empty and we were all full to the brim, noo room for one of the delicious sweets that were on offer. All in all, an excellent lunch in very pleasant surroundings. We will definitely be eating there again and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to have and enjoyable and delicious meal. *****

Having been here for food before and thoroughly enjoying the whole experience, we booked again with 4 friends. Disappointing is the word I would use. The food was lovely and really tasty but the service on the whole was poor. When we arrived, we gave them our booking name, the lady took it and then left us stood at the bar - didn’t even say, someone will take you down to your table shortly. When we did get to our table there was literally nothing on the table, not even cutlery which I found strange. I had to ask if someone could take our drinks order as nobody offered and when they came one was wrong. I took it back to the bar and explained it was wrong but the young waitress didn’t even apologise - which would just be courtesy to do. The room was quite cold as well so you really couldn’t take your coat off. As I say, the food came and it was really enjoyable but when we got the bill, they’d charged for 6 steaks and there’d only been 5 so again I went up to the bar and explained to the same young girl about the error - again no apology, she really wasn’t that bothered. I do want to mention the young lad who waited on us as he was very professional, smiley and apologised for our wait on the drinks (they did take a while) and was all round a good waiter. It has put me off going again and the 6 of us went on my recommendation, so I do feel a bit let down in the overall experience.

I booked a table for 3 for lunch and we were promptly shown to our table. We ordered at the counter and food was brought to our table fairly quickly. The food was tasty and ample portions. We went back for cakes and coffees for dessert. Service was pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere was perfect for friends chatting.

Booked a table for two as a lunch stop whilst visiting the gardens. The cafe was beautifully laid out and the tables set ready for our arrival. We both had the daily quiche with coleslaw, salad and chips and a hot drink. The portion sizes were good and the food quality excellent which represented really good value for money. The staff were very attentive and we were not rushed which all added to a very enjoyable day. We also purchased some cake to take home which was also very nice. I would certainly visit again.

Booked a table for 10 for my mum’s 94th birthday. Visiting Renishaw is an annual ritual on her birthday. Staff had decorated our table with flowers, table decorations and welcome card and banner. It felt really special . Mum was overwhelmed. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Not all lunch food options were available as we had a late lunchtime booking. Recommend booking an earlier time slot. Fully recommend for a special occasion - or just popping in for coffee and cake! The gardens were wonderful too. Thank you to all the staff.
