Another lovely meal at the Hour Glass. We live nearby and this is the place w etake friends for a night out. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the food is great (I hate the word 'gastropub' but it is at least an indication that we are not talking about 'traditional pub food' here . Two of us had pork schnitzel, one had chicken breast and one the excellent hamburger. The wine is good as is (of course!) the beer. We were warned that the food might be delayed as there was a large party in the basement but, as we chatted, we didn't notice any particular wait. All round, a most enjoyable evening. Thanks to all concerned!

Excellent Sunday lunch for 12 ( birthday) , very attentive staff and the food was consistently lovely across the menu. We will be back again as easily one of the best pubs on Exeter.

I seldom order steak (ribeye) out but it was done perfectly and the truffle fries … hungry just thinking about it!

Our table for 9 on a Saturday night all agreed dinner was excellent. Delicious, interesting food and impeccable service. Empty plates all round! We'll definitely return.

Incredible Sunday Roast. Whether it was mine or my friends’ dishes all was nicely presented. The service was smooth despite a rather busy place. Booking is essential to make sure a table is available.

An old-school vintage pub full of charm. When we first walked in, we instantly loved the feel of the place. It had that traditional, cosy atmosphere with friendly bar staff and plenty of locals, which always gives a pub a good vibe. We headed out the back for a meal after being told the food was good. The menu looked promising, but what arrived on the plates absolutely blew us away. Every dish looked amazing and tasted even better. We all ordered different selections for each course and ended up trying each other’s because they were that good, honestly, we couldn’t decide which one was best. The whole meal was outstanding from start to finish. We would normally only have two courses, but the food was so good we ended up having all three. Absolutely top-notch and highly recommended.

Consistently the best pub in Exeter on all fronts.

I wanted to visit the hourglass as I hadn't been for a year or so and, as always, it provided a wonderful meal with delightful service in a lovely, intimate setting. They even called ahead of time to see if we wanted to join the pub quiz. Brilliant.

Love this place. Fab atmosphere, lovely staff and excellent food. It is a gem of a pub. Dog friendly too
