Cosy atmosphere ! Had an excellent roast, plentiful portions and piping hot. Ales very good from Exeter Brewery…its hard to find decent pubs doing Sunday roasts, I thoroughly recommend.

The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterLove this pub, very few like it. Loads of character, lovely food and on point ales from Exeter Brewery.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterAs away, a friendly atmosphere, delicious food and wonderful drinks, along with warm welcoming service.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterThe Hour Glass Inn is our favourite pub in Exeter, but last Friday was the first time we'd actually eaten there. The food was superb, from the starters (Brixham Monkfish 'scampi', curry emulsion, lime & coriander + Somerset Prosciutto crudo, walnut pesto, burrata & croutons) to the mains (Pan Roast Sea Bream, crab bisque, watercress & smoked mash + Beer braised ox cheek, mash, sough dough crumb & greens) to the pudding (a shared affogato as we were stuffed, but feeling piggy). We were served by Giles, who was very efficient, friendly and knowledgeable and is a huge asset to the pub. The atmosphere was busy with several Christmas work parties, but we ate in the upstairs side room which was cosy. Much of the food and drink was local (both of my glasses of white wine were from Devon; Sharpham Dart Valley Reserve & Sharpham Bacchis Stop Ferment 2024). Highly recommend - if you're on a budget, it's definitely worth saving up for!
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterHad a wonderful meal- lots of yummy options for all the courses. Everyone loved their starters, and we had an excellent venison and beef pie for 2… venue was looking great too- seems like they have been redecorating since I was last in. Great beer and wine…. Overall a brilliant experience and I’m hoping to be back soon!
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterWe had a fabulous meal for our work Christmas lunch at The Hourglass. As always, the food was incredible and the service was great. I'm sure we'll be back again next year! Thank you!
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterAmazing service, really friendly and good wash superb! Works Xmas do and it kicked it off in style. Thanks you.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterThanks Giles and your team for our wonderful lunch the food and beer was great
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterHad a great meals, fish and rump steak cooked to perfection. Service excellent but not over attentive, Atmosphere good but tables a bit close together, might be due to Christmas period and packing more tables in to maximise availability. Good choice of Exeter ales and beer prices not to expensive. Food prices above average for area but quality made up for the price.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterAnother super dinner - the quality of the food is exceptional and far beyond the norm. Service - also super! Atmosphere is wonderful - we love it here!
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterFirst visit for food here, came with friends. Everyone loved their food, so much attention to detail and great service. Can't wait to go back!
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterFriendly service, good value for money, tasty food. This pub is a favourite of ours.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterOutstanding food, service and atmosphere. First class in EVERY way. Bravo.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterTook my wife and youngest (plus dog) to the Hourglass for lunch end of November. Food was amazing, great choice on the menu, well presented, timely and delicious. Service and bar staff were supper friendly (but not intrusive) and kept the service and atmosphere flowing perfectly. We'll be back!
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterA friend of mine told me that the food here is exceptional so I thought a good place to take my husband for his 71st birthday on Friday night. We were not disappointed. A nice table next to the log burner for 7pm. The food was beautiful. We had the venison and the pork belly with extra green vegetables and smoked/honey sprouts. All was delicious. A lovely atmosphere downstairs in the restaurant, every table was full. I am definitely going back to try one of the steaks next time, they looked awesome too. The attention to detail, the friendly staff and the exceptional food made for a great evening, thanks very much, we will definitely be back. Not the cheapest of places to eat but like they say 'you only get what you pay for' and as a special treat it was amazing.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterLe meilleur restaurant pendant notre semaine en Angleterre. Plats à la fois originaux et excellents Très beau lieu et personnel très sympathique
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterWe ate at the Hour Glass the other night. Not my first time going there. Absolutely amazing food as ever and easily THE best food I've eaten out in Exeter in ages. Highly recommend. I'm vegan and the options were delicious and creative.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterAuthentic and charming. For me, this is Exeters jewel in the crown of real pubs with top quality traditional homemade food and great beer all set in a pub that has a kind of ‘Irish charm’ that hasn’t changed for years.
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterSunday Menu: 2 courses, £31; 3 courses, £39.50.
