Ganges

All the food on the menu currently has 50% off!! I don't know how long this offer lasts, but we had a lamb rezala (beautiful curry with oriantal spices, goes well with sweet naan bread e.g. peshwari), a house special curry, egg fried rice, special fried rice, tarka dahl, sag aloo, peshwari naan, onion bahji's, somosa's and kebabs as starters, and two drinks each all for.... £29!!!!! The staff were very helpful when choosing the right sides for our dishes, and very friendly and polite. It may look a bit dated on the outside, but inside it is really nice, with lots of cosy nooks, dim lighting, lovely murals on walls and indian music. Must try!!!

Starz Bar & Restaurant

I was in Exeter on business last Monday and was trying to eat somewhere exciting. Half the restaurants were closed which I found highly irregular for a City centre! Any Malysian- no, any Noodle bars-no, any decent modern chinese-no, any wok based street food-no. I was totally underwhelmed, but I remembered a review I had read on Sugarvine about a place called Starz, it took some finding but I was relieved to find it was open. On entering I was expecting to be the only diner but the place was really busy. I thought that I may be crashing a private party but this the owner said was a typical week night. I had found probably the busiest restaurant in Exeter. I ordered a ribeye steak and a fabulous top of the range USA red wine which was ridiculously under priced. The really nice waitress arrived with a huge plate full of the biggest and thickest ribeye I have ever had, tons of crisp and fluffy fries, loads of mushrooms, salad and a pot of peppercorn sauce. In truth I was overfaced but I had a great time, the atmosphere was electric and the service friendly and attentive. I will want to return as soon as I am in Exeter again. The quality of this American restaurant far exceeded the likes of TGI etc, this place had soul.

Crabby Dicks

I live in Bideford and often visit Crabbys. This bar is fantastic, lots of space good music good food during the day, but not served at night...Excellent fun on new years eve when the building and ALL the staff become Themed (playboy mansion in 2002 & Heaven and Hell 2003) Give it a go if you ever visit Bideford.

Lanterns Kebab & Steak House

Tried lanterns out on a Saturday night and it was very busy. Although waited a little while for the food, when it arrived it was very well prepared and was very enjoyable. Found the cost about average compared to others I tried in the area.

Jingles

Amazing! I was on a long weekend trip and had written to request menu's from many restaurants in the area...Jingles were one of the few who replied and boy, am I glad they did! I have never seen such an extensive menu of tasty and filling dishes. Although I was ideally looking for a romantic meal for two, this menu won myself and partner over and we are so glad we went for Jingles! It was the Cajun Chicken Gumbo that persuaded me (one of the nicest and most substantial starters I can remember) but it was my main course that inspired me to write in and sing their praises...Orleans Ostrich! 2 chargrilled ostrich steaks served on a bed of rosti potatoes in an orange Grand Marnier Creole sauce. The first time I 've had ostrich, and an orange-flavoured sauce as well, but I hope not the last, indeed I would drive another 300 miles just to eat it again! The Grand Marnier was a Grand Idea! My partner delighted at the fajitas and we were both impressed with the presentation...you'd have thought we were in an empty brasserie such was the fuss over our presentation, but the fact it was heaving, and it was only a Monday night only underlines how impressive this place is! To top it all, we had alligator strips with a garlic butter as a supplement, we were both in heaven! Add to this an impressive dessert menu, a TGI-esque range of cocktails and a vast amount of Tequilas to choose from, (all very well explained on the menu or by the helpful staff) and you've got yourself a grand dining venue. It looks like your average Mexican/American themed restaurant, and had they not sent the menu to us, we'd have walked right past it, but we're glad we didn't...it was the most memorable meal I've had in a long time. The atmosphere for a Monday was amazing, and clearly large parties are welcome, but I would recommend it to anyone regardless of who and how many people you are dining with...I'm just gutted I live so far away or I'd be back to work my way through the rest of that exciting menu!

Earl Of Portsmouth The

I ate loin of lamb stuffed with spinach and pistacio nuts, served with a rosemary gravy and it was stunning. The Chef/partner of this old Inn is a genius, lets hope that the media dont spot her and make her a star.

Wah Tin

Highly Recommended, Gorgeous food especially the Crispy Beef. The first thing that srikes you is Antique decoration and furniture in the waiting area. It really gives the impression of a high class restaurant. The staff were friendly and gave the place a warm and relaxing atmosphere. Next to the Restaurant is moderate sized carpark so parking is ideal. I loved the food and the experience.

Wah Tin – Plymouth
Orestone Manor Hotel & Restaurant

The service and attention to detail makes this, in my opinion, the only place to dine if you want to really indulge. You must be prepared to splash out, but it is worth every penny!
