I went out with friends on Friday to Jem and I. I have been a number of times but this time the service was awful - we had to keep asking, there was no atmosphere and the food was ok but all overprice, won't be hurrying back.

As part of a birthday treat I took my wife and son to Greens last Saturday. The deep fried oyster mushrooms and black pudding was really tasty but the sausage and mash although nice we felt was a bit overpriced. The most disappointing part of the night was the attitude of the staff and the way in which we felt that every dish was rushed. The way in which the waiters hung around the tables and cleared the plates as soon as we had finished eating was more akin to a fast food restaurant than what we had hoped for.

Amazing. Have been 3 times now and have loved every visit. Completely recommend it for something different within a reasonable budget!

Would not go to this restaurant again ,we went on a wed night and waited 45 mins for our starter. My friend had one course and was charged for two we were charged 10 service charge but did not get any service other than to bring the meal and take the order.I spoke to them and they took off two pounds for not having a starter i pointed out that a lot of people do not want two courses.and cannot eat a big meal.they offed no alternative and sill charged me so will not be going again

Very excited to find a proper South Indian restaurant here in Manchester with varieties of Dosa´s,Idly,Chicken and mutton curries. I have visited with my friends and really nice authentic South Indian food. The foods are delicious and really good value for money. Will come back again.

I have been going to the Gurka Grill for many years now with my family and i have to say the food is delicious and Raj and Niel are very welcoming. I really liked how they take the time to get to know their customers and are always polite. I recommend the Gurkha Grill to everyone i know and i have never heard a complaint.

What an absolutely fantastic evening we had at Bistro West 156! It was my first visit and certainly won't be the last. Everything was excellent. Sean was a very attentive host and nothing was too much trouble. As for the food! WOW. Really tasty food that was not too OTT but was certainly a change from the norm. Very generous portions and beautiful flavours. The cosy, intimate atmosphere coupled with great food and excellent service makes Bistro West 156 a welcome change to the majority of restaurants out there - others should set their bar at this standard - outstanding!

visited with a party of 4 people for a birthday meal. we all opted for the 3 course meal special. there was a large choice of meals off the set menu and further options on the special board. we each ordered a different dish which all the group fully enjoyed. excellent staff and cosy atmosphere. would highly recommend .will be returning in feb for another birthday celebration

On the 24th of January my sister my mum and my bother inlaw took me to dine for the first time at the Bistro, there are not enough words of praise or recommendation I can give..service is so important to me,Kim our server, was just wonderful, charming helpful, with a full restaurant, nothing was a hassle for her,the food, well please go it will speak for its self,I eat very little and so healthy,I ate three courses and not too healthy,I just wanted the whole menu, and host,he was cooking, then took time to come out to mingle with customers,it was my Birthday,so he made my dessert special,I overheard him making a young couple welcome, there first time to the bistro, now this guy was cooking and running the show, they have a great recipe,it seems its a family business,a great combination, very homely, but can be romantic, very special, please go try this venue,I will spread the word..my Birthday was made at the Bistro last night, thanks guys, Paul,Helen, and family x

Sorry went here on Friday. Great interior. very different Service not great had to ask numerous times Food Steak and Onion sandwich, great big hunk of fresh bread with not a lot of anything else, soggy tasteless deep fried new pot, (no Salt) Friend had a pizza, which was a good thin dough with a tomato sauce and not a lot of much else Coffee Cappuccino was a typical bad cappuccino, please can people serve a proper 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 ..... and not boiling hot. This place has won awards, all I can say is the competition must not be much kop!

Hugely disappointing. Read good reviews and went for dinner with my wife. Functional decor, slow service, wrong orders and poor quality, overpriced, production line food. Won't be back.

Great food, nice atmosphere. Best of all - the waitress! Lovely smile, helpful and attentive. It makes such a different going to a restaurant and made to feel looked after.

Cachumba's menu is 'world' rather cuisine from one fixed country, but the underlying element in all dishes is deliciously spicy, whether it be Sri Lankan, Malaysian, Indian, or Moroccan. The food is simple and exquisitely tasty, and moreover a treat for vegetarians; a selection of three dishes, khoubz bread (a flat bread much like roti, but drier like pitta) is enough to satisfy and silence two people with only 'mmm' and the sound of licked fingers passing between you. The Ugandan Mtoki (fried green banana, as a savoury dish, in a spicy sauce) is a delicate treat. We also sampled a beautiful Coconut lentil curry dish, and a darkly rich aduki bean curry. Those of you who prefer meat and fish can select from prawn, chicken and lamb dishes that my carnivore pals have always found finger licking good. All desserts are home made and include a selection again of world items (kulfi, halva) and also include stodgy Brit faves with an Asian twist (Mango and Berry Crumble), or just total Brit-ness (Sticky Toffee Pudding and custard). The environment is unpretentious, cosily lit, but one criticism - it is always FREEZING COLD. Which is why we prefer the take-away service.

Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Relaxed welcoming atmosphere and excellent homemade food. Bread and butter pudding to die for

I lived in W Didsbury from 1997 - so used to eat at the Metropolitan a lot. It used to be great. I have been back there twice recently - once for drinks on a Friday night (never again it felt like a Yates' pub except a lot dearer). I also had lunch there midweek. I had the Metro burger. This used to be excellent. However, it came on a "value" bun & the bacon was what can only be described as flaccid. Not the gastropub fare that it used to be. Overpriced and resting on it's laurels.

I went to Greens for a Saturday lunch with my husband who is vegetarian and my 3 year old daughter. I have to say that I was not impressed by the person who greeted us. He looked at my child as if she was going to be a problem, which I was surprised about given that they have a children's menu. I would also point out that my daughter was extremely well behaved and quiet. On the plus side the food was marvellous and I would definitely visit again, but the welcome on this occasion left a lot to be desired.

I haven't been to The Metropolitan to eat in a long time. I used to drink here all the time from when I was at University up until I left the area a few years ago. After returning to Manchester, I went to meet up with some friends for a meal. I was surprised by the menu. i was expecting pub grub but it was more like a fine dining experience. The choice was vast, the food delicious and the service smiley and efficient. I would definitely reccomend it. Think we're even having our Christmas reunion here this year.
