On our most recent visit however we were left disappointed, not by the food but the poor service we received. It started of well in that our order was taken for drinks and food which all arrived promptly, once we had finished our main meal it all went down hill, the waitress started to clear the table and at the same timed asked if we would like to see the dessert menu, to which we replied yes please, that was the last time we had any attention from the waiting staff. My wife went up to the staff member who cleared our table and asked again for the dessert menu, which she handed to my wife with no word of an apology. After making our choices we waited for someone to come and take our order but this was to be in vain, we then made the decision to cut our losses and pay the bill as it was clear we had clearly been ignored once more. When we have received good food and service in the past we have always been complementary with our reviews, on this occasion the service fell well short of our expectations.

Grumpys Diner – SouthendI'm glad we booked as the place was packed out, plenty of choices of food, the staff were great at checking everything was filled and took away finished plates quickly. The scallops were cooked perfectly as were the prawns, the crab was rubbish though but probably the only thing that was. Good place to eat.

Popped in to try some buffalo wings to take away and they were absolutely delicious, so my partner and I returned two weeks later for a sit down meal and we were both extremely impressed. The cocktails, food and desserts were 10/10. We both loved the brisket in particular and the brownie was incredible. The atmosphere was really nice too and both staff members we spoke to were lovely. We hope to return many times in the future :)
