Burlington Fish Restaurant – RomfordVisited 10th December 2014, although we booked and paid deposit for six adults we where very disappointed when we were given bench seats that in my opinion, was only room for four adults to sit comfortably. We were squashed in and the adults sitting at the bench near the glass partition had to slid along on their bottoms to get to their correct seat plus, there was not enough room to eat properly, I could understand more if we had, just turned up without booking but I Booked up and paid the deposit for SIX ADULTS NOT FOUR. Sadly the ONE waitress was rushed off her feet (there was only one waitress to serve pre-meal drinks, clear tables, take orders for sweets, Coffee and final bill, given that your restaurant was full to bursting point, quite clearly this is to much for one to handle alone.I hope your restaurant improves its service soon. The high number of customers should not be a cause for bad seating and delay lest customers like us be put off despite the good food.
Toby Carvery Runwell – WickfordWent in there last Thursday had two pies and double mash and liquor was gorgeous. I don't have pie and mash often but when I do I always go to Tony's it never disappoints, the staff are always friendly and cheerful too.

Miller & Carter Lakeside – GraysVisit to watch football and often eat as well as drink. Always a good atmosphere, even though there is a wide age range. Staff are constantly clearing tables so always feels clean. And last but not least, GREAT value for drinks and food.
The Fatling and Firkin – HornchurchI went for the Breakfast the other day, will not go back again as the place looks grubby. The service was bad, ask for scramble eggs and they come back over cooked and the rest of the breakfast was cold.
Harvester – RayleighIt's an amazing fish shop and I would recommend you eat there.
Islanders Fish Bar – Canvey IslandDo not use these people if you want food delivered on time! Delivery was 20 minutes late and attitude of delivery staff was appalling. Food ok but customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Very disappointed customer with lots of hungry children!
Queens Fish Restaurant – RayleighWe went yesterday to Chelo Persian restaurant. The food was delicious and very nicely done. KABAB Brag food served with rice and saffron rice and vegetable was very tender lamb fillet. They had also amazing starters. We opted for mix starter which served with freshly oven made Persian naan bread. I advise to everybody to try this place. This is my regular restaurant from now. I will try other foods very soon. One word....Excellent.
Chelo – BrentwoodEnjoyable meal but the landlady has an attitude problem very rude and arrogant.
The Orange Tree – RomfordI live near this pub and I popped in with a few friends. This is a truly lovely pub with the nice old fashioned atmosphere. The food was great and only £5.95 for a great meal and a drink! I never go into pubs on my own but one day it poured down and after the gym, thought I would pop in on my own. I had a great lunch and all the staff was friendly. I think most women would feel ok to pop in for a drink/coffee or lunch.
The White Horse – Southend On SeaThe Manager is a charmer, and the food was very good and reasonably priced.
Pizzeria Bel-Sit – Woodford GreenHad lunch at the Shepherd and Dog. The service was a bit slow but polite. While the food for the most part tasted good, I unfortunately suffered severe food poisoning as a result of something I ate there (most likely to be the salt & pepper prawns or the ribs). I normally don't contact restaurants unless I am absolutely sure of the source - and I was in this case - but I was completely unimpressed by the response which effectively said no one else had complained therefore it didn't happen. Their defensive reply leads me to believe that they don't take food safety seriously (in spite of the numerous protocols and routine checks they claimed to have followed), and underlines the mediocre customer service we experienced while we dined there. However a good lesson learned: always complain, even if you're not sure.
The Shepherd and Dog – RomfordWow what a nice place for lunch we went yesterday 23 july 2014 for lunch. 2 adults 2 children really nice food for the price, even have chicken nuggets for the kids. Plates cleared from table very quickly. Waiters were very freindly specially to the children aged 5 twins. All in all we had a very good time and all for less than £20,great.
Imperial Chinese Buffet – ChelmsfordWhat looked to be a very nice restaurant décor wise, was a complete let down on food. We went on a Sunday.
The Brickyard Bar & Grill – RomfordThe food was very good and the staff were very helpful and it is the best carvery I have been to for a very long time. Will go there again when going for a carvery.
Toby Carvery Runwell – WickfordWe ate here at tea time today (Monday 16th June 2014) so not busy at all to say the very least!! Service by the waitress was good nothing was too much effort for her very polite and courteous, however waiting time for food was ridiculous, we waited ages for our meals, when we asked for our garlic bread starter to come with our mains, it came out after our very long wait 5 mins before our main meal, when we ate this it was horrid too much butter on it. When our meals came myself and my mum ordered gammon which was supposed to be 7oz each steak mums was more like 14oz and mine was more like 4 oz.The fresh pineapple slice was that unripe you couldn't even cut into it, and they were so many peas on the plate it looked like the tin had been tipped onto the plate! I ordered fish and chips for my 2.5 yr old and they brought his dinner out on a adults size plate, which I asked for a side plate so it actually would fit onto the highchair, after his dinner he got a desert included in the price which we then waited a further 20 mins for which I then went to complain. I said we have been waiting ages for our main meal and now my sons dessert and were still waiting?!! she said yes I know you have I am really sorry, the desert came shortly after only to be a further disappointment , so we paid our bill and left.
