Exceptional food and cocktails at this new restaurant in Colchester. The dining room is inside an old library next to the Town Hall in the centre. The room is amazing, High ceilings and a stunning cocktail bar. Food is very much fine dining but the service is friendly and not pretentious. They stay open late so stay for a post dinner drink and enjoy the atmosphere. They have private rooms if your fancy making it a little more intimate. Highly recommend.

A value for money place to eat. Lovely relaxed friendly atmosphere excellent food and service. Michelle, Scott and their staff are always welcoming and helpful. The monthly quiz nights make for a good evening out. They also now have a monthly 'Supper Club' which is excellent. value. Yes the place is a little off the beaten track but really worth a visit. My wife and I have eaten there and popped in for a coffee regularly for over two years and rarely eat out anywhere else in the area.

Under new management ...the Sunday carvery is absolutely the best I have had in a very long time .... the meat is so tender and very tasty ...word of mouth is the best form of advertising I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys good food x

Got say Sunday Carvery at the Crooked Billet Lane Stanford Le Hope, was the best I've had in a long time locally. Decent portions great food at a very good price. Unlike the Ship at Little Thurrock which has declined in standards aslong with the size if their dinner plates which were barely bigger than bread plates. Thoroughly recommend the Billet which is under new management.

What a great place - jewel in Epping forest. The Gastropub is warm and has log fires and real ales n good wines. Great pub food served daily and a hearty home cooked Sunday roast. They also have a restaurant which is lovely which adjoins the pub and is worth a visit. U can dine in the forest gardens when weather good and they have kids play area and BBQ running in summer.. If I are looking for party or wedding venue then u must check out thei kings room and beach club marquee..both areas are out of this world.. In the summer they have private members beach club out back with 100fy swimming pool on private gardens.. U can dine outside around the pool and single membership is only £55.. This place is somewhere special and highly recommended ..

I have visted the Merry Fiddlers recently and was given a warm reception by the land lady and her husband.The atmosphere was friendly with lots of locals in the bar, which served good real ales and a good selection of lagers.My partner and me ate in the restaurant and the food and service was excelltent.

Was sorely disappointed with Catch. Found the owner to be abrupt, the service whilst pleasant was a bit shoddy and most importantly the food was not up to scratch. Think this place relies on it's marketing as opposed to it's cuisine. Pay more attention to the quality of the food is my advice and try not to rely on the 'happy chappy' routine to sway customers!

seriously over priced. the food was small portions, the wine tasted as though someone had brewed it in an old church. the music..........just some teenagers performing karaoke. absolute joke. will not be going there again. as for the mouse droppings in the toilets. one can only presume the kitchen must be awful.

went to the cheese and wine tasting night. all the cheeses were "OFF" it seemed like they had been on display already for about 2 months, plus they charged me £25 for a load of off cheeses and "HOME BREWED WINE" absolute rip off. will not be going there again.

The most awful experience I have ever had. The food was overpriced for what it was. The service was terrible - the waiting staff attempted to remove my drink before it was finished and actually removed my plate while I was still eating - and I mean literally putting a forkful in my mouth! There was no break between the main course and dessert menu and the dessert arrived in 5 mins. We were then presented with a bill and the debit/credit card payment machine. We sat down to our main meal at 7pm and we had finished our meal by 8pm! NOT a relaxing event. We then decided to attend the 'club'. The music was awful and there were plenty of women in the ladies complaining about it too. We were also told to move by a security officer - who was originally positioned outside, to make space for a regular to have her normal position - after she had gone to ask him to move us on. Allegedly, the place was 'reserved' but had no reservation label and we had been sitting there for a good couple of hours beforehand. However, the icing on the cake was the 'high five' the regular gave the security guard after moving us on. Seriously, you couldn't pay me to go there again - I have never been to a more unprofessional venue.
