It was our first visit to the shepherd and dog. On pulling up to the restaurant we were like wow, this looks nice.We walked in and were greeted by I can only presume the floor manager. He showed us to our table. (Ps you must book to get a table as it was busy) The lady who attended to our table was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble..She checked on us a number of times during our visit. Wish you don't get anymore as other restaurants have such a quick turnaround and have to attend to so many customers.The decor was fresh and contemporary. It is very clean.The food arrived at the table quickly. It was very Michelin star food.You pay for what you get. The food was displayed perfectly on the plate. The desserts were lovely presented too.At the end of our time there. My stomach was extremely contented.We took our son. The only downside was there was no child size portions. Luckily he can eat an adult size portion. But for others it might be too much. I recommend the shepherd and dog and have done already to family and friends.We will be returning there soon.Thank you for a great dining experience

Unfortunately, things may have changed since Mr. G. Robertson's visit.Had a carvery lunch last Wed. 18th and it was extremely disappointing. Meat was dry and the pork was very fatty. The brussel sprouts were overcooked and YELLOW in colour.

I happened to be visiting family in Southend-On-Sea the other day, and after reading the fantastic reviews, I decided to bring my family here for a meal. I'm pleased to inform you it was a delightful experience and that we had a wonderful time. The service was very efficient and friendly, whilst the gorgeous Sunday roast was the best I have had in a while. I'll be certain to dine there again, as it made a great impression.

I have been to the Shepherd and Dog twice now and both times the food was excellent . Stylishly presented but without being too pricey. The staff have been helpful, friendly and we have been impressed and I have recommended it to all my friends.

We have visited the Carpenters with a large party and just the two of us. On both occasions we had a fabulous meal and the service was excellent. Its so good having a top class restaurant in the area.

Had lunch on Sunday 8th April with family (party of nine, including three children).Food was beautifully served, hot and delicious. The staff were lovely. Congratulations!! We will certainly come again.

Briefly, had late lunch 3:30pm ish in bar and within half an hour had cleaners hoovering literally around our feet. Have enough of this indoors so Monday was a form of escapism that did not happen. Will stay at home next Monday and hoover or go elsewhere!!!!

Thought we would treat ourselves to a late lunch - a late lunch being 3:30 in the bar area because restaurant closes at 2:30. Had not finished our lunch when the cleaners started mopping the floors and then hoovered around our feet!! We wanted escapism not home cleaning...We hastily took the remainder of our food and drink outside and promptly departed. Felt they took our money and wanted departure within 10 minutes.

Heard good things about the new restaurant from friends so thought I would sign up for the mailing list

What a wonderful Friday night. Our meal was excellent, the service was superb, a great ambience and very stylish surroundings. Our first visit there and we will most definitely return. Its about time there was a fine restaurant locally as usually we have to travel many miles for quality. 10 out of 10 in every respect.

Another great meal here 26th March,for my mum's birthday.This is my 6th visit, coming with different people each time, all of whom have been very impressed. Food it lovely and plenty of it,staff friendly and helpful. Great to have somewhere local to eat. Keep up the good work.. Lynn Burgess

Wild wood chelmsford was very nice although it was packet, service was fast and staff were helpful. I had the platter as a starter and it was brilliant and the prawns were outstanding with the sauce. For my main course i had the chicken Milanese which was brilliant and i would recommend it to anyone. The restaurant was very nice as it had couples on dates and young families. Even though the food was brilliant the price was low and i would give it 4 and a half stars.

Superb Sunday lunch, plenty of it and really tasty, the staff were very friendly and helpful the chef was very knowledgeable about gluten allergies and prepared my food appropriately,beautiful decor, loved it, Taking the whole family next time, Thanks to all x

A mega big thanks to Michelle and all the staff for a fantastic "Mother's Day" meal!! All three of us had a wonderful time - gorgeous food and such a happy atmosphere...thank you again and will see you all at half term for a big breakfast for Rachel and I. PS Have just planted the lovely plant that you put on the table - what a lovely touch for us Mum's xx

Very tasty food

The pub best in Essex and food to match the food is locally sourced and the Sunday roast is brilliant and desserts to die for and services is the best and very friendly .

Been there a few times now and must say the food was spot on every time and the staff seemed very knowledgeable in what drinks they were serving and there food , try the cocktails they really are like west end style, keep up the good work guys
