Charleys Bar – Canvey IslandRajpoot cuisine is a lovely restaurant with great service an above all the best Indian food within the Southend area.
Rajpoot Indian Cuisine – BenfleetRecently completed a period of almost 6 years contract working at GSK Harlow and from the time it opened in around 2007 (I think) throughout the rest of my time there, I went to Indian Moments at least once and occasionally twice a week. Saeed and all the team front house and kitchen too were excellent such that I count as friends of mine. The food is simply sensational - there's no other way to say it. None of the nonsensical pursuit of heat-type curries there! Finesse on every level such that the subtleties of all the spices can be appreciated. If I ever needed to organise a first-timer introduction to food from the sub-continent, this is where I would bring the initiates. It's really THAT good and an on-going credit to everyone who still is or has ever been involved in creating the place. It's simply the finest Indian restaurant I've ever eaten in. The Shaun fella above must have gone to another place entirely or dreamt his visit because in my view he knows nothing at all about Indian cuisine.
Indian Moments Restaurant – HarlowWaste of money - horrible food and very expensive. Would not recommend the restaurant to anyone. Felt ripped off
The White Hart Inn – ColchesterWOULD not recommend as my daughters have an allergy to wheat and when i telephoned they had no idea of what was in their own dishes! So i guess they don't cook from scratch. Extremely disappointed with their response as they did not know what wheat was.
Mossla Winebar and Restaurant – Clacton On SeaLive Halifax, spent this weekend (17th - 19th June 2011 in Southend on Sea. Went to Barnacles on Saturday 18th. There was 8 of us in our party and all I can say is 100% good food, 100% good service 100% friendly happy people who work there and made us feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend and next time we are in Southend will be certain to go back.
Coast Bistro – Southend On SeaBest West Indian food in East London and Essex and Ive tried them all

Tony’s Pie and Mash Shop – Waltham AbbeyOne of the best pub/restaurants we have visited, fresh food great v.f.m, Spacious comfortable, in fact our group gave 9/10
The Half Butt Inn – ColchesterThe best in the area, especially the lamb buna, fantastic. recommend 2 any1. Try it n u will keep goin bk
The Bay Leaf – BillericayI think the food at the sunflower is great, it so yummy :)
The Sunflower Eaterie – Southend On SeaThis got to be the best Indian Take-Away in Brentwood. We have tried many elsewhere, this is unique. Everything is nicely balanced. Antonia Lynn Brentwood, Essex.
Pink Garlic CM14 – BrentwoodMy wife and I had carvery lunch @ the Bread 7 Cheese today. The food was top class, the chef Graham, the waitress Tracy and the manageress Micheal, were very happy helpful people. We visited this pub because I am chairman of the newly formed Canvey Island U3A, I am also leader of the new Luncheon Clud for them and this venue was suggested as the next meeting place for my group on June 1st 2011. I would like to find out more about the history of the building, but have not so far had ant luck any help would be appreciated. Mr G.Robertson (chair Canvey Island U3A )
Bread and Cheese Public House – BenfleetUnable to recommend this restaurant, house wine for £14 very poor, £2.99 quality, fish and chips meal, well i have had better from a take away, very disappointed, I just wish the food was as good as the staff.
Memosa – ColchesterDo not eat here, it's awful and the owner is shockingly rude. I paid £3.20 for a circa 1970s school dinners style apple crumble.Yuk. We sat outside and witnessed her bawling at a woman who'd moved a cheap plastic table so that her elderly partner in a wheelchair could access it. I was visiting the area having last been around the mid 90s when it was a delightful place with fabulous cakes, sandwiches and mismatched olde worde china. ALL of this has changed. A comprehensive disappointment.
Philpott’s Tearooms – Waltham AbbeyWithout a doubt, the best fish & chips around. Even better than Harry Ramsden's.
Mumford’s – GraysGreat atmosphere, beer and food. We tried to the set Japanese meal and were really pleased with the flavours and quality - a great way of trying the cuisine of a different place. The staff were attentive and courteous. We'll be back.
Fai’s Noodle Bar – Colchesterno recommendation except don't go there waste of money went Sunday horrible
