Reviews in Fylde Coast and Blackpool

We have eaten at the Sunam many times before and often eat there when we visit Blackpool from our home base in Manchester. Our most recent visit in early November 2007 coincided with a Saturday night trip to see the lights etc. As usual the Sunam produced great food and great service. Unfortunately the evening was slightly marred by the incredibly bad mannered behaviour of a young Asian couple who were seated at an adjacent table. From the moment they arrived to the moment they departed, it seemed that nothing was right for them. The service wasn't fast enough, the food wasn't good enough, the bill wasn't right etc etc. First of all they delayed ordering for ages,the waiter having to come back several times. Next the food didnt arrive quickly enough for them. They changed the order a couple of times. When it did come,they had an arguement with the waiter about whether it was correct,whether it was cooked the right way etc etc. Eventually when they got the bill,they launched into a lengthy debate about whether it was right or wrong,,then accused the staff of being abusive and rude,said that they were both Doctors and should not have to put up with this,and eventually left after stoppping at the door to engage in further debate. My opinion is that the staff acted in a very reasonable way considering the extreme provocation from these two. They did say they would post a review on the internet and ruin the restaurants reputation. I thought i'd beat them to it. The best thing these two fools can do is eat at home. We recently visited this restaurant last week in fact, to find that it was very pleasant and the son served us, during our conversation he told us that they have been there since May this year, I have to say that we have been to many a fish "N" chip restaurant in Blackpool and I personally found this one to be the most tasty fish of them all, I would say that this was definitely fish from Scotland and not local, it was without doubt the best and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting this part of Blackpool or well worth the drive. We had Haddock and asked for it to be well done delicious. Ten out of Ten.

Found the fish to be very bland and tasteless, chips perfect. will not be going back big let down after reading other reviews. I had Haddock my wife had Jon Dory. Both tasted the same no taste at all.

Cannot fault this chip restaurant, top class would recommend, well worth the drive to Fleetwood.

We have held customer loyalty cards at the Bombay for many years. When Mr Ali owned it, the food and service was exceptional and I would have said it was one of the best Indian restaurants in Blackpool. However, since Mr Ali's retirement, the place has not only lost several very good staff members but also its former relaxed and friendly atmosphere. If you can put up with poor service, go for the food experience. It's still very good.

My partner and I have had several lovely meals at The Gardener's Arms. The staff are very friendly and polite and as my partner is a vegetarian we are always looking for good vegi options which The Garderner's Arms has lots of. The price of the food is brilliant. It just goes to show you can have a gorgeous meal for such a small cost. I can recommend highly the mixed grill and my partner the new vegi burger....wonderful.

Tried San Marcos for the first time this weekend following a recommendation and were really impressed. We will definitely visit again. The food was delicious and the service was attentive, but not 'in your face'. My husband had the lasagna and said it was very good, so the earlier comment about it being 'dire' must have just been a one-off. We had mushrooms and prawn cocktail to start, and I had stroganoff for my main course. Everything was cooked / prepared to a high standard and was really tasty. My only slight criticism was that the sweets were brought in, and I personally like finish an Italian meal with a traditionally made Tiramisu. The one we had was quite nice but just lacked that bit of something. The drinks were reasonably priced. Give this place a try. I doubt you will regret it.!

Would not rush back, it is more like a sort of transport cafe than a restaurant, very disappointing.

I've been to the Gurkha Buffet many times now and its always fantastic. The quality of the food is fantastic and the service os very good. I dont believe any buffet style restaurant in the area can come close to the Gurkha Buffet Restaurant. P.S The Gurkha beer is ace. :)

Once we got inside the restaurant we were more than happy with the food and service. All I can say is book before you arrive. We decided on the off chance to have a meal here but were met with a frosty welcome; "we do prefer a booking" exclaimed the manager!! We did feel like walking out as we felt rather uncomfortable.

When we walked in i thought it was good to see a few people knocking about on a Monday night. I took my wife for her birthday, she ordered goats cheese and i had duck confit both starters were excellent. The main courses however were a bit of a let down, whilst my steak was cooked perfectly it was drowning in the sauce and the wifes chicken was under that sauce somewhere but they were tasty. The pinot grigio was well chilled and a rather splendid drop. We didnt order dessert but Gennar brought one with a candle in it for wife, nice touch. All in all it was a good evening and that balancing menus on noses had me amused. Will I go back? Yes, of course especially with the little ones once they start opening at lunch times.

The new cartford is amazing best meal we had for ages decor service spot on! kids loved it and we all played family games that are on offer! going back very soon! Lisa.

we visited this Indian on a weekend away in Blackpool on the 27 oct 2007 .we ordered our curries and when they come we was all shocked on the size of the balti dishes they were so tiny and not worth the money. as we are all from Birmingham which has great curry houses and you get good quality portions we all refused to pay for them it was not the price it was just the size so people if hungry do not go what a rip off .they need to make there balti dishes a lot bigger

Contrary to what frances said i found my fish and chips the exact opposite! The fish was nice but the chips are sometimes a bit soggy. I'm not sure if it was actually haddock i got, as that is what i ordered, think it was cod. Never mind, i am a good customer, i eat from there about once a week and i will be going back.

My Partner and myself have been to many Indian restaurants in the Fylde and elsewhere including a well reputed one in Rusholme and Michael's wins hands down everytime. We love it and will continue to visit often.

I've been here before and thought it was great but I went on Saturday evening and they had run out of house fries, coke and Sprite. How can this happen in a restaurant?? And how hard can it be for someone to go and get more supplies in the event of problems with their deliveries, as had happened on this particular day? Also, when our food had been prepared it sat for 5-10 minutes before being brought to our table. Our waiter was held up with something else which is fair enough, but the manager walked by several times and just looked at it. Is it beneath him to help out in busy periods? Oh and then my partner's burger bap disintegrated a few bites in so he had to eat the rest with a knife and fork. Disappointing night and we couldn't be bothered staying for dessert, which is saying something for us!
