i bought a holiday home in bilsborrow not knowing that just up the canal was this wonderful eatery from steak and kidney puddings to fish and chips and the helpings massive.in the italian restaurant i have had the best mussels by far there is a novel little train runs overhead good background music ,if you like pizza the garlic bread is out of this world .i can also recommend a stay over the rooms are superb some with jacuzzis !

We stopped for lunch whilst shopping in Garstang and enjoyed it so much I booked a meal the following evening for my Mother's Birthday! The food is delicious, the owners warm and friendly, and made the evening even more special! I must recommend the medallions of beef with Garstang Blue Cheese during the evening, and the grilled chicken ciabatta during the day. Both were fantastic! No doubt I will be returning soon! Equally at home as a Pub or a restaurant. The Steak here is simply fantastic and Great Value for money. The specials board is well thought out with at least 1 "fish of the day" dish. A wide choice of desserts and a good wine list round of this restaurant.

Went for lunch on a Saturday. Now has an outside eating area but we chose to eat inside. Was very quiet inside. Shown immediately to some comfortable seats. Bread and water provided. There was a good selection on the A La Carte Menu and a smaller selection on the lunch specials but price was reasonable - £7.95 for 2 courses - but some had supplements. We both had wok fried beef strips for starters and they came quickly and were delicious. Again, we had the same for mains, chicken breast - partner had dalphinoise potatoes, I chose chunky chips. Again it arrived very quickly and the quality couldn't be faulted. There was a good selection of desserts - I had ginger sponge pudding, partner had lime sponge tart - lovely. A great experience - but it did come to £43 including a diet coke, gin and slimline tonic, tea and hot chocolate. Only criticism is that when we finished the meal nobody offered to bring us the bill and we had to go to the front counter to ask for it. Apart from that, the service was as excellent as the food.

We visited the restaurant due to Ian Piper (owner/head chef) having provided our wedding breakfast whilst chef at 'The Villa' last summer. Again we were not disappointed, the decor, atmosphere, service and most importantly the food was excellent. We were a party of 6 and felt the restaurant suits all group sizes. We dined on a Sunday at lunch-time and felt the menu offered choice and good value. Will definitely return!

I went here as I heard the same guys who have The Plough Inn @ Galgate have taken it over. It was lovely the food was very good standard and the view of the Lancaster canal was a real treat. Will definitely be back.

Me and my boyfriend go here all the time, casually and for special occasions. Its our favourite Chinese and i would recommend to anybody the staff are friendly the foods great whether sitting in or taking out!

What a lovely place. I went with my boyfriend and a rather huge hangover but by the time I'd finished my meal I felt fantastic. The service is brilliant as it always is with the Italians. We had a cheese and garlic bread between us (thank god, the portions are BIG) and then I had a lasagne which was delicious, he had a pizza which he said was the best he'd tasted in a long time. We had a lovely time and are planning to go again soon and stay over. Have I good time when you go!!!

although a new restaurant, it was very clear from the cheery staff and lovely atmosphere that it was going to be an excellent meal. i have eaten at the villa many times before which is where Mr Piper has come from. the food was excellent, very filling and extremely tasty. i thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the meal and will definitely be visiting there again. Excellent reports.

As we have young children we don't got out very often. When we do, it is to Tapenada as we always get an excellent reception, lovely food and good wine. Would recommend it strongly.

I have been going to Guy's for years now. I have made friends with all of the staff especially the warm-hearted pizza chef "Christian". Check out their mid-week 50/50 offers. The food is absolutely delicious. I love their steaks and puddings. Take your family there as everyone will love it. I am of young age (12) but have been going since I was about 4 and that is saying something. And I like food!!!

We visited Tapenada on Friday night and were completely blown away. The starters (fresh tuna tempura, and spinach roulade) were amazing and substantial. Likewise our main courses (salmon, and guinea fowl in chocolate sauce) were wonderful. The service was fantastic and friendly. My only disappointment was that tapas is only served up to a certain time in the early evening, but I will certainly be returning one teatime soon to try them out!

The Name of the Tavern is Owd Nell's and not Old???? the food and service was perfect. They looked after the kids and my disabled mother like they were their own. The place is very friendly and so quaint. The have special occasions on all the time, we just missed the Oyster Festival but have booked for their "Not so scary" Halloween for the kids and adults. Brill keep it going.

Like one of your last customers said, the pizza was made by Christian and Alfonso who let the kids put their own toppings on after it had come down from spinning in the air to the amusement of all the customers. We had 12 fresh oysters and a bit of garlic bread to nibble at before we chose our meal. I had the tiger prawns a size I've never seen before then plumped for the Aberdeen Angus Ribeye steak which was cooked to perfection Mmmmmmm!!! We had a couple of litres of Guy's Plonque that was £12.95 and more than just plonque. Home made bread and butter pudding and a half pint of Artois Bock at 6.8% I was ready for my taxi home. I could have stayed in the lodge at Owd Nell's Tavern and should have done. It was fantastic for meat fish and service. Well done!!!!
