This restaurant is a little gem. It's not the most glamorous, and maybe lacking in atmosphere, but that is made up for by the quality of the food. Everything is fresh, seasonal, local, beautifully presented and expertly cooked. And the value for money is extraordinary. Unfortunately, I live in London. If the Ugly Duckling were my local, I'd eat there every week! As it is, I've had to make do with four visits over two weekends.

Ugly Duckling – Gloucester

Food ok, but obnoxious landlord who threw us out for complaining about the volume of the piped music. To be avoided. Rick G

Fox Inn – Cheltenham

This restaurant is excellent. The 'eat as much as you like' selection is outstanding and prepared individually not just presented in self service troughs. Staff friendly and helpful. Go early or book as very popular. Rick G

I have been eating at this place for a good few years and have always had really nice food. The owner Andy is very friendly and will always make sure you are well fed :-)

Wonderfood Noodle Bar – Gloucester

An excellent restaurant with cosy surroundings. Food displaying a high standard for local and seasonal produce and passion. Well run family style service with a fair price too.

5 North St – Cheltenham

found a place which i really like the food is excellent not cheap but also not over priced staff are friendly and a good laugh when serving.party of 15+ they insist that you pre-order and a deposit is required(shame but you can't blame them)7/10

The New Inn – Frampton Cotterell

White Lion – Thornbury

I thought the food at the knot was lovely. Very reasonable prices, and quality food. Best place in Thornbury for traditional home cooked food. And the sunday dinners were delicious!!!

Knot Of Rope The – Thornbury
Hungry Bob

Possibly the best place to eat locally if you want authentic (and non-pub) food. Competitively priced, with good service. Booking advised on Fri/Sat for peace of mind. I'm not entirely sure about the interior decor, but its a pleasant distraction from the rest that Thornbury has to offer.

Thai Basil Restaurant – Thornbury

Right on the high street in Winchcombe in a characterful old place where John Wesley once stayed -- hence the name. AA rosetted Modern British food, a good wine list, and good service (the maitre d' is Peruvian but sounds French). The bar area is charming with a huge fireplace while the restaurant is more contemporary in style. It's a restaurant with rooms too so you can stay over. As an aside, just down the road is an award-winning tea room run by a Japanese couple which is well worth a visit for their full-on afternoon teas.

This excellent restaurant is a true asset to Cheltenham. Fantastic opulent surroundings which are cosy and comfortable, a really nice family running the establishment and the food is cooked by a real chef - Sam Krori who owns the premises. Sam and his family take great pride in running their beautiful restaurant which has been completely refurbished and it really shows in every element of the place. In short - the best Bangladeshi food in and out of Bangladesh, fantastic ambience and great ambience. Personally recommend - Sweet and Spicy Honey Chicken and Fish Masala - yummy!

Curry Corner Indian Restaurant – Cheltenham

We have been regulars at the India Lounge since it opened and can thoroughly recommend it. The food is excellent and it's clear that quality ingredients are used and careful thought and preparation goes into producing the dishes. Service is friendly and attentive and the decor is contemporary and tasteful. In our view the best Indian restaurant in Cheltenham.

India Lounge – Cheltenham

Terrible restaurant. Awful food, nothing vegetarian, frosty atmosphere. No one I know has enjoyed a meal here - it makes me wonder how much repeat business they get. I realise you won't publish this report - you only publish positive comments - hardly surprising therefore that no one has previously written a report for this place. I'm sure they were all negative.

Le Champignon Sauvage – Cheltenham

This is without doubt the best Indian / Bangladeshi restaurant I have ever been to. Decided to eat at the Curry Corner following keen recommendations by the hotel I am staying in for the Festival and reading the rave reviews on the restaurant by diners and critics alike. And they were all true. The food served by this restaurant is unparalleled. I have eaten in many of the local Indian restaurants on my past visits to Cheltenham but am so glad that I have at last discovered a real gem of a place where the quality of food goes hand in hand with luxurious surroundings and there is even a really stylish lounge bar - which is a real find - excellent for drinks before and after dinner. Truly in a league of their own.

We had Sunday dinner here on the 17/2/08 and it was fantastic we had 2 courses for 10.95 and the roast beef with home made Yorkshire pudding was perfect and my wife had roast pork with crackling all the food was fresh and tasted wonderful, We both had Apricot and Brioche bread and butter pudding. We have now booked for mothers day what a gem of a place good food at good prices

Ye Olde Inne – Chipping Sodbury

Rather dated and slightly shabby interior, limited range of drinks. Could be a lovely place, but needs updating, some new ideas and enthusiasm, and a good spring clean. It's really rather a Cinderella place at the moment.

Ragged Cot Inn – Stroud
M Appeal

Nice, modern restaurant in an attractive, quaint old building. Good range of choice on the menu, mainly Mediterranean style dishes - as you would expect from a place named The Olive Tree!

I have been eating there regularly for the last few months and have always found the food very good and reasonably priced too!
