Looking for somewhere to eat In Grasmere I chose Lewis Bistro simply from looking online. We were not disappointed. Good atmosphere, very friendly staff and , most importantly, excellent food. Would definitely return if we find ourselves in Grasmere.

Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe had a lovely welcome and although we arrived early we were seated straight away. The staff were really friendly and efficient. We both had lamb which was perfect and delicious, as was the Chianti ! We will definitely recommend and return when we are in the area again.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereDinner here last night. Salmon so overcooked it was inedible. Ordered eton mess for dessert. No meringue! Just a bowl of mush. Couldn't eat. Price taken off total bill and waitress asked what was wrong with it as she made it. Would've thought this was the chefs job or she should at least have been instructed how to make it. Salmon easy to cook and eton mess couldn't be easier to make. Won't be back. So many better places for food in grasmere.

Wish we had one nearer home! Favourite Dish each visit - Eccles Cake pudding Best Meal this year- Steak with Peppercorn Sauce Everything is excellent - fresh, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Thank you

Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereA small restaurant gem in the heart of Grasmere. This is the third time we have eaten at Lewis's Bistro and the standard of food remains consistently high. There is not an extensive choice (which is to be welcomed) as that means that what they do offer is cooked and presented very well. It is always full whenever we have eaten there with a mixed clientele from families to couples or all ages. Would recommend for anyone visiting Grasmere - but you need to book ahead.

We did have to wait a few minutes for our table, which we didn’t mind at all, and the staff were very apologetic for the wait. Anyway the wait was worth it. The food was exceptional. We both had Sirloin steak and it was cooked to perfection. So nice to get some fresh mixed vegetables along with the chunky chips, mushroom and vine tomatoes.

Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereBooked a table for five of us for 8pm and our table was not ready, this is not a huge problem but we felt awkward standing around by other diners. The starters were nice, although arrived before we’d finished with the bread and olives. Three of us had sea bass with what were supposed to be sauté potatoes. The potatoes were large boiled in their skins and slightly brown on one side, not sautéed. The vegetables were overcooked and not very exciting. The staff were very pleasant but the meal itself was disappointing and not worth the money we paid.
