Booked Lewis Bistro for my wife and I for her birthday while staying in Grasmere for a couple of night last week. We had a great evening with good food, atmosphere and service! Look forward to getting back at some point.

Excellent food in a delightful little bistro with fabulous service. Best monkfish I have ever had and will most definitely be back next time we are in Grasmere. Only slightly negative comment is about the toilets which should be cleaner and don’t do the restaurant justice.

We had a wonderful experience at Lewis Bistro. The welcoming staff and fantastic food made my visit truly enjoyable. However, the restaurant allowing dogs to walk past diners while eating was a bit off-putting. Overall, I would still recommend this place for its great service and delicious dishes."

Excellent food, nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly attentive staff

We visited due to the very good reviews and wanted a special evening out whilst away. It is a very nice place and the staff friendly and welcoming. I chose the Lamb Shank, given the good reviews, however mine was well overcooked, some of it being inedible, the rest also ruined. Reluctantly they discounted the meal but sadly the night was not the special evening out we wanted, a shame given the many good reviews.

Lovely food and atmosphere. This is our 3rd visit and enjoyable as previous visits. Portion sizes are really good with the cheese selection being a big hit for us. We will be back for more visits.

First time here and we’re not disappointed….the atmosphere was perfect, buzzing but not noisy. Friendly knowledgeable staff who really seemed to care and were passionate about the food they were serving….and no wonder, everything we ordered was top class. We had scollops, garlic mushrooms followed by steak and pork belly, everything perfectly cooked and excellently presented. Couldn’t fault any aspect of our visit, we will definitely be booking next time we are in Grasmere, thank you for a great evening.

Food was excellent, staff were lovely. Dog friendly. It was quiet when we went in March so the atmosphere could have been better but overall I don’t know why the place wasn’t packed. Good value for money. Please visit, you won’t regret it

Found online and ended up booking a table. Location excellent and dog friendly. Food was excellent with great selection of wines. Staff friendly and were extremely helpful. Would definitely visit again the next time we are visiting Grassmere.

This was the best meal of our 4 night stay in Grasmere, the food was excellent, I had the filet of beef and my wife the pancetta rolled monk fish, the service very friendly and professional and we drank a really good English wine from Gloucestershire. This is a dog friendly restaurant that did not bother us as the owners new 9 week old puppy was there for us to coo over.

Fabulous meal with fabulous service. Lamb shank was beautifully cooked and tasted fantastic. Great cheese board too! Would highly recommend.

Great service and food was exquisite

What a lovely place to eat with a nice atmosphere and good food and staff. The food was absolutely amazing and we had a great time.

Great little bistro. Very tasty food with good choice of dishes and portions that were to everyones satisfaction. Good value especially compared to many of the pubs and restaurants in the lakes who seem to over price and under deliver. Not Lewis’s bistro. Went twice in three days. Warm welcoming atmosphere and a friendly buzz. Very welcoming staff who were warm and friendly and made for a great night out.

The day was very wet but the evening at Lewis’s made up for the whole day. A warm and friendly welcome in an inviting and cosy ambiance. The food was amazing, mushrooms and scallop starters were full of flavour and thoroughly enjoyed. These delights were followed by a fantastic steak (surf and turf) and monkfish both of which were full of flavour. These were accompanied by a couple of bottles of an excellent Valpolicella and a cheeseboard that completed the evening. We would recommend this fantastic bistro as food this good is hard to find and should not be missed Sue and James

Twenty years I have been visiting the lakes and Grasmere in particular,The food standard and service is generally very good everywhere. I have visited Lewis’s twice in the last twelve months and the food is on a different level. I would urge anyone visiting Grasmere to go and have a real treat. I will most definitely be going back.
