We enjoyed of meal at Lewis’s. Everything was fine but we needed a gap between our starter and our main course. No sooner had the starter gone within 1-2 minutes the main course arrived. We could have been in and out in 40 minutes. I don’t know if that was to get the 2nd sitting in but just felt rushed.

A first session booking on a Tuesday evening for my wife and I ( we booked our Deerhound in too). Starter of Bury black pudding, mains of sea bass and slow roast pork, desserts of Bakewell tart and Eccles cake. All food perfectly cooked, presented and served. A good wine list to suit all menu items and individual tastes. Staff mannerly, pleasant and professional the Bistro itself tastefully decorated and comfortable. We have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this establishment which gave us a most enjoyable evening, many thanks..

During a recent stay in Grasmere my wife and I dined at Lewis's Bistro during the evenings of Sat 1st and Tues 4th July 2023. On both occasions we had a very enjoyable meal of several courses chosen from a varied and satisfying menu. The food, wine and service was excellent. We will definitely return to Lewis's Bistro when we next visit Grasmere.

My husband had the pork belly which was very good. I ordered the cod loins which was actually just a piece of cod. It was just ok. Ice cream was good.

The bistro is quite, unassuming. The food is anything but. Presentation is fine dining and generous to a fault. Taste, in the same league. Try anything on the menu, especially the pork belly wrapped in superb crackling, why have pork if it's not layered with flavour and topped with a crunch ? The Sea Bass fillet has a fine, subtle edge, without losing itself. Great with our fav wine the Argentine Malbec. A serious vino that leaves fruits and a fun burnt toffee on the palate. The menu has so many taste treats. We always share olives as a starter. Doorstep slices of brown and white bread are dipped in oil and balsamic, perfect with plump tasty olives. Service is second to none. A quiet table is always available. We felt looked after, left alone to ponder a menu, fussed over when the food arrives. Value for money ? Fine dining requires skill, economics are matched with a generous bowl, plate, crammed but not over the top and even of it was you would scoff the lot. All in all there's every reason to visit this little gem tucked under the hills surrounding Grasmere.

Dined on 1/7/23 with my husband. Ordered scallops and king prawn bao to start, both lovely. For mains we had the Seabass in tandoori butter which was lovely (not too powerful a flavour, it really complimented the fish) and pork belly. Both dishes were lovely. Had cheeseboard for dessert. Service was lovely, atmosphere was lovely, food was brilliant, the little bistro itself was so cute and cosy. Would return. 10/10. Brought our dog and she was welcomed with a biscuit.

Food was good, but not exceptional. Service was fine. The atmosphere was less of a restaurant or Bistro more an upmarket cafe. Too many tables, very noisy and crowded. Price rather high for what it is, £7 for a pint of lager! Not bad but I wouldn’t visit again.
