Grand At Grasmere – GrasmereHindley High went to Grasmere and I went into Miller Howe Café. I think its is a really nice café and I wouldn't mind coming again, you made me feel welcome and your café is well presented and clean. I think your food and you drinks taste great and yummy.
Miller Howe Cafe – GrasmereAvoid! They don't seem to know what they are selling or that they have an obligation to describe things correctly. They offer various 'juices' which should be described as 'drinks' as they are laced with sugar and other additives. Also they kept cleaning surfaces near food with a very smelly and probably toxic cleaning agent! NOT for anyone with any care for health! Also for such a competitive and high quality area, this cafe is somewhat out of place. Firstly, I'm not sure the decor knows what it wants to be nor is it necessarily fitting for the area. I'm not sure what was running through management's head when they selected a massive black and white print of Tyra Banks wearing what looked like a squirty cream bra!? The food was not bad, the service was friendly enough but there were several issues that could be addressed. My teaspoon was dirty and I had to exchange it and the floor under the tables was rather dirty with discarded food. Considering we entered at a quiet time, I wondered why the staff were not able to do a quick sweep to raise the standards.
Miller Howe Cafe – GrasmereHad a meal for 2 there, we had their game pie with seasonal veg. I have to say it was delicious. The staff were also very good and the place seemed very popular.
Grasmere Red Lion Hotel – GrasmereI had lunch there in 2013. The food was excellent.

Miller Howe Cafe – GrasmereCelebrated 44th wedding anniversary here Aug 2013 whilst on holiday. Enjoyed it so much, food best we have ever had, coming back this year for our 45th. Booked some time ago to make sure we got a table. Look forward to seeing you again on 16th Aug.
Jumble Room – GrasmereLovely food excellent staff. However, when the owner decided to go to the toilet in the ladies (no one was in the gents) without locking the door and then did not even apologise for making me feel uncomfortable after I walked in on him, explaining to me, in an aggressive tone, that 'I own the place and can go to the toilet where I want'! He then expected me to follow him back into the toilet for some reason. I went back to my table. Then to hear that he apologised to the person paying for the bill - she advised him that she was not the person to apologise to. This was a silly unnecessary event which marred an otherwise enjoyable evening. To the owner all you needed to do was apologise nothing more, simples!!
Saras – GrasmereWe visited Jumble Room for my 40th birthday, was unsure of what to expect as it was recommended. I was definitely not disappointed, it was fantastic. The venue is really pleasantly disjointed, sofs, big fluffy cushions, jazz music playing all night, service was brilliant, lovely ambience, food fantastic, especially the chocolaty chocolate brownie with homemade custard:) Definitely recommend going & I can't wait to go back.
Jumble Room – GrasmereI waited in a queue as chaos reigned and staff argued about who had been out for a 'fag break' for 15 minutes to be told very abruptly that no, I couldn't have a sandwich to take out as they were far too busy! I shan't be going back.
Miller Howe Cafe – GrasmereThis place is all shinny and new. Had a lovely makeover. Very trendy yet old school, with its fine traditional china and high teas. It's now attached to a cool giftshop We had a couple of awesome cakes and proper loose tea with a strainer. In the heart of Grasmere so you can fuel up pre or post walk! give it a go for sure..
Baldreys – GrasmereIts still as great as it was in 2007. I had the rarebit yesterday and it is still delicious.
Baldreys – GrasmereOverpriced even for the lake district. The coffee cup was a tiny teacup & only half full(£1.75! that's £3.50 for a full cup), the guy serving expecting you to fill up the other half with milk. Also the toasted teacake i was given (£1.95) was no bigger than a rich tea biscuit. Should have known when we entered, only one couple were in there & a man sitting down, He was the guy serving. When we left approx 7 mins later the place was deserted. We were both completely underwhelmed & still in need of sustenance & a caffeine kick. Not two minutes later we were outside a place called Greens which was almost full. We got the last table & had a proper teacake & the coffee was in a cafetiere with almost 3 cups in. There's too much competition in that area to think you can get away with taking advantage of people... We will never set foot in The Cumbria Cafe again.. Well done Greens for saving the day, What a fab place.
Cumbria Cafe and Restaurant – Grasmerewe ate at the Dove and Olive Bistro, which is part of the Wordsworth hotel and is primarily for non residents. It has its own bar area to which you are taken for pre-dinner drinks before your meal. The hostess and waiter were very professional and looked after us from the moment we arrived. The menu was not very complicated, but catered for everyone. Our meal was delicious and the homemade soup was to die for!.Everything was made from fresh with local produce. I would recommend the Bistro highly for anyone staying in Grasmere, and the prices were very reasonable for such a tourist area. We will definitely be going again when we go back in October. Please try it,you will not be disappointed!.
The Wordsworth Hotel and Spa – GrasmereThis is a great find. Maybe we were not so clever at finding the decent eateries in the Lakes, but this is one amazing little place. Really enjoyed the meal. We love food and does this place do good food!!! My duck was so tasty. As for the seafood terrine...WOW. We were only up for 3 days and we only found this on day 3. We were gutted. Would have eaten there 3 nights on the trot. Staff were great too. Yeah, been to all the posh restaurants in London. Gordon does good food, but these guys do it for a lot cheaper in a lot less pretentious environment!!
Jumble Room – Grasmereduring the past 5yrs we visited baldreys many times with both family and friends whilst on holiday in the area. Previously the premises seemed to be consistently above average in both food served always adding a little twist in the taste the chefs effort very apparent and waiting staff always polite and interested overall well worth a visit and confident to be recommended. Sadly on our last visit on Monday 9th march we ordered a humble jacket potato with a topping, unfortunately the potato was raw in places. However we persevered to complete our lunch. Regretfully when one of the waiting staff ( a woman with brown curly hair) came to clear the table we politely mentioned the poor quality of our meal. Quite frankly her attitude resembled "i couldn't give a toss" I doubt this is the response i trust that baldreys management expects judging from the facade. We were certainly shocked. Surely this is the quickest way to lose custom. I hope baldreys isn't in decline, as basic training is needed here. Not one person acknowledged our complaint but were very efficient in taking our money never the less
Baldreys – GrasmereHad an excellent lunch here last week. The jacket potato with a trio of salads was absolutely delicious. It was beautifully presented and the service was fast. Good value for money. Will definitely go back again.
Miller Howe Cafe – Grasmerefew good things to say about this restaurant to be honest. i would not recommend it to visitors to grasmere. i would choose another one of the fantastic restaurants in grasmere.
Saras – GrasmereTasting Of The Menu: 6 courses with wine flight, £112.50.
