Superb Food, super service. An excellent evening spent in one of the eating gems of the lakes.

You can only judge a restaurant by your own experience and at Lewis's it was pretty good. We had a nice welcome, attentive service and food delivered quickly and to a high standard. We are foodies who have eaten at some of the very best restaurants in the UK and abroad so we adjust our comments accordingly. We didn't expect Michelin standard food but we did get tasty dishes cooked by someone who knows what they are doing, We left happy that we had eaten here for our last night in Grasmere.

Welcome was not good, totally ignored left just standing at door , then after 5 awkward minutes ushered to the bar then told your table is over there. Felt like we were an inconvenience Food was excellent , served a bit too fast , need a gap in between to let the meal go down and just relax. Tables very close together . Like sitting in a dining room . Odd atmosphere , felt on guard whole time and as if you should hurry up eat leave. Ladies who took over serving us were fabulous, esp lady from Newcastle - really turned the evening round and made us feel welcome. Thank you

What a great spot, just off the main Street in Grasmere. We had excellent service and all six of us enjoyed our food. The black pudding starter was moist and tasty unlike the dried up circle of black pudding you sometimes get. The prawns were huge and delicious. The chicken supreme was supreme, my friend's lamb was cooked to perfection and the large sea bass was large and perfect Most of us were too full for pudding but the sticky toffee pudding and Bakewell tart were both pronounced delicious

Everything was fantastic from the moment we walked in, the atmosphere, the food, the wine selection and local gins! The cheese board was superb as was the main course lamb rack. I highly recommend Lewis’s Bistro.

Hearty, delicious food. Enormous portions and we were too full to have a pudding. Friendly, efficient service in a lovely environment. Will definitely come back and highly recommend.

We had read good things about Lewis's and after a wonderful 3 courses capped with Amarettos over ice, we agreed that the food is lovely, the service is attentive without being intrusive and the price is about right for the location and the standard of the menu on offer. Highly recommended and will definitely return.

Just been for our 3rd visit in 3 years of visiting Grasmere. Love this restaurant, food is amazing, and the staff are so attentive and welcoming.

Our first visit to Grasmere and we loved it. We had a lovely meal. The food was amazing. Two of our family are coeliac and we were given a huge choice. The homemade gluten free sticky toffee pudding was delicious! Super friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere made our evening very special. We can’t wait to return in the future.

Yet again another gorgeous meal at this wonderful bistro. This time we took our children, aged between 13 and 22. They all loved it. The steak was beautifully cooked and cut like butter. The pork is out of this world, which is probably why I always order it and it never disappoints. Service is friendly and attentive. Hopefully back soon.

Everything was just perfect. Good service and excellent food. Looking forward to a return visit.

A gem in the heart of Grasmere

We were lucky to get a last minute booking, and really enjoyed the food and wine. The waitress wouldn't let us order desserts at the same time as our mains, and a good job too! There was no way we could have eaten desserts, as we were so full. I had the onion soup as a main, and the portion was enormous. The local cheeseboard was outstanding, and beautifully presented. The waitresses were attentive and very likeable. We'd gladly go again.

The food and service were so great, we booked to eat there again for the following night!

Myself and my family went to Lewis’s on Saturday 22nd. The entire staff were wonderful and the food did not disappoint, we had scallops, black pudding , French onion soup and creamy garlic mushrooms to start - 3 x 8hr slow roasted pork belly and surf and turf , the produce and delivery was excellent, thank you
