We ordered the fillet steak and lamb. The food was cooked nice but the whole meal was barely warm apart from the chips. The plates were not warmed either. We returned our food and side of order of vegetables to be warmed but it came back again barely warmed. The side order was forgotten which we had to remind the staff to bring. We ate the food and ordered the cheese board which was lovely. After the food was returned no real apology was made and it felt very awkward. We felt unable to complain a second time. No complaints about the quality of food but it should be served at least piping hot. Also sat by the window was cold especially as people entered and left the building. Also no gestures of good will made to compensate our spoiled anniversary meal. I would not return.

Very nice cosy restaurant and very busy, certainly when we were there. The menu has a set number of starters, mains and desserts and doesn't appear to vary too much. We both enjoyed our meals despite one of us being given the wrong main meal it was only a couple of minutes before it was rectified. We were asked a second time to pay the bill when the bill had already been paid a couple of minutes earlier. That said the staff were very pleasant and engaging and the food was excellent. Whilst they do accept walk ins I would strongly suggest that a table is pre booked.

We had a lovely meal yesterday evening - can especially recommend the fillet steak and cheeseboard. Overall the bill was pricey for us at just under £200 for 4 people including starters and dessert - but the quality and quantity (plenty but not ridiculous) of everything was we feel reflected fairly in the price that we paid. Would not hesitate to go back on our next visit to the area.

Spent a pleasant evening and had a great meal. Helpful staff and quick service.

Tables too close together, waitress could barely get through to the corner table. Would be nice to be shown to our table instead of being pointed out from behind the bar. Too much gossiping behind the bar. Food ok, needs some seasoning. Would have liked a dessert but because of the above we just didnt enjoy the experience. Our waitress was efficient and professional.

Excellent food and great service in a lovely bistro setting in the heart of Grasmere. Everything was perfect.

Lovely meal last night, great food and excellent service.

One meal was good, the other not value for money as very little meat on the chops. Staff did not appear bothered when this was mentioned. Starters were ok but prawns were almost too spicy to eat!

We always eat here when in Grasmere.Lovely food and great service.We shall return.

Amazing food and a lovely cozy friendly atmosphere, a lovely place to end a busy day.

All in all a really good experience, nice vibe, good service I wasn't too blown away with my starter but the Sea Bass main course was a lovely plate of food I could have licked the plate, shared a cheeseboard instead of dessert and choice of cheeses was really good. Best meal so far of the week for us in Grasmere.

Brilliant place, wish it was near my home !!!

A really nice cosy place to eat, although it’s small you don’t feel on top of each other, food was exceptional, freshly prepared and very tasty, scallops were divine, and I’m not sure how the carrots were done but for me they were the star of the show! I had forgotten to ask on my departure how they were cooked, so maybe on reading this review perhaps you would respond? Delightful experience thank you very much to all involved .

We had a fabulous meal at Lewis's I can't fault the food - it was superb, up there with one of the best meals I've ever had! The service was friendly and helpful too, all requests were met and more! I would not hesitate to recommend Lewis's.
