David and his staff have always been very helpful and friendly, the decor log burner and background music create a lovely atmosphere. Their menus are varied with quality food at reasonable prices, good selection of ales beer, wines also the Guinness is grand☘️
The Dukes Head – Bishops StortfordWe are very fond of this place. It has a lovely atmosphere and yesterday's menu was varied and full of good choices. The food was delicious and we all enjoyed our lunch choices. The fish pie on the specials menu , which I chose, was extremely good. However, there was demonstrably too much for the two servers to do. They were manning the bar, taking orders, waiting at table and making the coffee. With more staff in evidence, this would have been a perfect visit .

The Dukes Head – Bishops StortfordWe had a table of 7 (4 adults and 3 kids) at a 2pm weekday reservation. Unfortunately the pub was terribly understaffed and we waited 90 minutes until we got our food (40 mins waiting to get our order taken). The food was lovely - but by the time it came we were all starving, especially the children. We thought we’d order deserts but were then told the kitchen was closed when we finally finished our mains. Some warning might have helped as we could have ordered them sooner. Luckily the woman on the bar agreed to get some ice cream herself after I explained our situation. All in all, let down by the staffing and slow service.

If you want a really wholesome Sunday dinner then this is the best place. Friendly welcome by all the staff team too.

Only issue for us was the noise of the babies, that did not stop for the whole of our Sunday Lunch, we know everyone wants to go out, ofcourse, maybe though, times could be staggered? So adults without children with them can also have a nice time out? Would it possible to stop babies, say, after 2pm? So adults know they can book when children aren't screaming?
