We enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea, sat in the lovely dining area overlooking the gardens. Tea was served promptly by our friendly and helpful waitress. All in all a faultless service. The food was delicious, would definitely recommend.

As a group of 8, we all ordered a variety of meals, they catered for food intolerances well. Each and every member of our party thoroughly enjoyed every morsel. Lovely atmosphere, we were not rushed to leave our table. A recommendation from us.

Staying in Staveley during the Easter holidays . Thoroughly enjoyed a lovely evening meal, although weren’t prepared for such large portions. Northern portions are larger than Southern ones! Very friendly, well trained serving staff with food served efficiently.

Friendly greeting, excellent service and a superb Easter Sunday lunch with perfectly cooked beef, turkey and belly pork with great Yorkshires and delicious vegetables. Very much looking forward to returning soon. Thank you!

Easter Sunday Lunch….Fabulous! We chose the Roast Beef which arrived with Roast& Mashed potatoes , a large Yorkshire Pudding and good selection of seasonal veg. We asked for beef slightly rare and it did not disappoint: pink, succulent , with an extra tasty gravy…Mmmm For desert, a lovely home made fruit pavlova…chewy meringue filled with fresh strawberries & whipped cream/ chocolate and caramel mouse, equally delicious . The service was excellent, quick, efficient and attentive. Overall an absolutely wonderful lunch . Look forward to the next visit.

Surprisingly quiet on Easter weekend. Friendly staff. Hearty rather than gourmet cooking with generous portions and good chunky chips.

Delightful meal ….Oak Cocktail ….just the right amount of spice. Curried cod , very good and Steak Pie fantastic . Very friendly service from Louise . We will be back for the Easter Egg Hunt with grandchildren

Lunch with family, very good food, excellent service and generous portions

Went for Sunday lunch with my family for my birthday. We weren’t disappointed , lovely meal and staff very friendly.

4 of us dining , not a scrap left on the plates . Generous portions and all was very tasty. Service was very attentive and Louise is a tremendous asset to have. We will be back.

Love the Empress, so friendly and the Sunday carvery was amazing beautiful food, the Yorkshire pudding is to die for and such a massive choice, great idea to have different size plates for oap and kids at great prices, also popped in for lunch mid week, sandwich in choice of bead, chips and salad a meal in its self, its now our preferred pub to go to when we take our dad out, and as a bonus we can take our dog, what's not to like,

A really great Carvery. Excellent range of sides, and the vegetarian option is brilliant - it's simply a carvery but without meat, and obviously a good deal cheaper- tbh even as someone who misses meat, it was always the sides I was there for, so pile that plate high! They have a few sides that rotate and so there's usually a different option available, and everything is really delicious. The Empress is a lovely pub with a great traditional "local pub" vibe, their quiz nights and discos are really popular and I love visiting there with friends or my young family, and sometimes I even get to go there for grown up time!

Great food and lovely atmosphere. Really good Sunday menu.

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch here. Very friendly staff and beautifully cooked food in a cosy country pub. The portions are very generous and the very good value for money. We've had a few meals here and have never been disappointed
