My husband and I had lunch at the kestrel today,Wednesday 19th Sept. We have eaten there many times but will need ALOT of pursuading to eat there again. The service was appalling, the food was warm NOT hot, and we were offered no sauces, that is vinegar, mustard, mayo etc. We had also ordered 2 teas but they nver arrived. We asked the young man if he could get our teas but we never saw him again, at least not at our table. What an awful experience.

Appalling! Service would be good if it wasn't let down by the food. We have eaten there once and two sets of friends have eaten there on separate occasions with the same result. Venue is good, decor is excellent, menu reads well if only the reality was the same.

Visited with my teenage grandchildren excellent meal, very good service with pleasant chat from the gentleman that served us, nothing was too much trouble, atmosphere ideal for any age group.

Stopped in here for a drink, such a warm welcome even though we were not eating. My wife had a glass of champagne and a beer for me, sat out on a terrace, perfect. We will be back and definitely will be eating next time!!

I was in Harrogate for a weekend break and not knowing where to eat asked the very helpful lady in the cookshop what she would recommend. She mentioned this place and we had such a wonderful meal that we went back to the cookshop the following day to thank her for the recommendation. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic food and wine. I have and will be spending many more weekends in Harrogate because of this fab restaurant.

This shop holds a Fish and Chip Quality Award from the Nation Federation of Fish Frier. You can be sure of the quality of the product and service in this shop.

you wont post this as its negative but i think you should show good and bad feedback otherwise it will be seen that they never do anything wrong. we went to a festive do here 3 years ago. although we arrived early in minibuses,another group unrelated to us just coming on the same day were delayed so we all had to wait.45 minutes later it started to appear! the soup was very spicy yet no mention of this on menu just vegtable soup i am allergic to things like that(spicyness) didn't know otherwise i would've picked something else,i mean come on it was all old biddies they don't eat stuff like that most of the people on our table left theirs it was that 'hot'(in taste). i guess i am too fussy, but the mains were not very warm and the gravy non existent. someone messed up the puddings i especially on the booking form wrote ice cream only as i couldn't eat anything else due to food allergies the waiting staff were non to pleased to remove the wrong pudding. the music and entertainment was absolute rubbish a christmas cd on a loop i almost told cliff what he could do with his mistletoe and wine i heard it so many times. the singer told some god awful jokes that weren't funny just so so boring if people said they enjoyed that the god they must be easy to please. we were charged 17 for the privilege,what a rip off even charging 10 pounds for that is too steep. we have been asked if we would like to go this year no way! the organiser wouldn't let me complain on the night he doesn't know about this feedback i have better things to spend my money on and i believe it is almost 20 pounds now anyone who pays that must have money to burn.the night was extremely disappointment,the food was awful when it finally arrived,the music awful,the entertainment worse.i would definitely not recommend this place to anyone.

Regularly eat here with friends and plan to celebrate our birthdays here as always great food excellent service and one of the oldest well established restaurants in Harrogate.

My wife and I visited Millstones for the first time yesterday for a birthday celebration at which we were two of about 80 guests. Despite the numbers the entire afternoon went very well, helped enormously by the very efficient running of the event by the staff. There was a good selection on the menu and the (warm) food was piping hot. There was a carvery with three meats, all nicely cooked and tender...and my wife remarked that the vegetables, of which there was a wide selection, were the nicest she had ever had at a carvery meal. Excellent!

I booked the Cattlemans as it was recommended by someone who had been there several years ago and had a great meal. By all accounts it used to be a top steak house. We were a party of 6 and we all had a steak. Out of the 6 only 2 had been cooked correctly. I sent my cremated medium well, bone dry steak back and it came back less than 10mins later as a rare steak with blood oozing out all over the plate but again burnt on the outside! This was a £19.00 fillet and they got it wrong twice. Even the two steaks that had been cooked OK were nothing special and 4 of us didn't enjoy our meal. This was on top of the fact the meals took over an hour to come in the first place and the chips were barely warm when they arrived. The final insult came when I paid the bill. I had a 25% discount voucher from Harrogate Vouchers and they wouldn't honour it. They said that the voucher was only for 25% off the food up to 4 people and as we had a table of 6 I couldn't use it! I had to insist they take the service charge off. What a dreadful place. It is obviously living on past glory. There are plenty of other good restaurants in Harrogate including steak houses. Don't waste your money here.

The food and the service are first class. i highly recommend this excellent restaurant

Elegant and intimate dining in a beautiful old building very tastefully decorated. Attentive and friendly service but not obtrusive. Very good (not amazing) food.

Me and my family had a lovely night. The atmosphere was really nice, It had a warm and very friendly environment, the decor is great. And most of all the food was gorgeous, freshly cooked and a the service was great. I will definitely be returning. Thank you Deano's Graze and Grill

Really enjoyed our evening here late February: food and wine were excellent and we were really made to feel at home. Unpretentious and flexible, this is a place we will visit again as it compares well with some of the over-priced, loud places nearby.
